- Providing direct instruction for identified K-12 EL students using ELP standards and best practices through explicit academic language development, vocabulary instruction, and effective sheltered instruction techniques for ELLs.
- Managing compliance with local, state, and federal requirements for ELD programs and support.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate with SEI endorsement.
- Evidence of success in the implementation of effective instructional practices in teaching English Language Learners based on student achievement data.
- Three to five years of demonstrated knowledge, skills and teaching success with ELLs.
- Experience working with ELLs in at-risk populations.

**Performance Responsibilities: The ELL Instruction Specialist will implement the professional development process across the curriculum, in addition to delivering direct instruction to students. The ELL Instructional Specialist role includes the following**

**Teachers/Staff**:

- Deliver evidence-based, differentiated instruction and interventions to ELs.
- Support staff in efforts to improve student achievement of ELs.
- Plan and deliver training to a variety of audiences in ELL programs and procedures.
- Offer instructional assistance by building on teachers’ knowledge base and increase the repertoire of teaching skills to raise academic achievement for ELs.
- Use district-identified assessment tools to facilitate training of instructional staff in the use, triangulation & disaggregation of data for data-driven instructional planning.
- Engage teachers in collaborative and reflective classroom practices for ELLs based on data.
- Assist staff in accessing information/resources to support instruction of ELs.
- Modeling scientifically evidence-based instruction for ELs, co-teaching, coaching and providing teachers with reflective, growth-producing feedback.

**Students**:

- Participate in managing program compliance to include letters of notification, testing, service minutes, exiting, monitoring, and communication of processes and procedures to staff, students, parents, and the community.
- Meet and instruct assigned class(es) in the location(s) and at time(s) designated.
- Implement effective teaching skills and best practices in a variety of methods and settings.
- Utilize specific knowledge for meeting the needs of ELL students with special needs, special education, and accelerated students.
- Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials to meet the differentiated needs of students.
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to differentiate instruction based on the needs of the ELL students; to include addressing various intellectual abilities, attitudes, cultural backgrounds and learning styles.
- Evaluate ELL student performance and maintain an accurate written record of each student’s academic growth.
- Utilize technology in planning, developing, and implementing instructional objectives to better meet the differentiated needs of the English learners.
