**ABOUT THE POSITION**:
**There are currently **two (2) **Contingent full-time Installer positions with the Telecommunications Division**.**

Within the Telecommunications Division of the Department of Public Works, the mobile vehicle Installer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electronic communications equipment for County public safety vehicles. The incumbent will assume an active role in ensuring quality installations, configuration, and programming of public safety equipment, including radios, data terminals, light bars, and other ancillary vehicular equipment. There are currently two (75 bi-weekly hours) position available in the Telecommunications Division.

**ABOUT YOU**:
**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Knowledge of**:

- Installation and repair principles of radio equipment, light bars, and wiring.
- Basic electronic theory, including Ohms Law, AC/DC theory, audio and radio frequency circuits, electronic measurements, semiconductor fundamentals, and mathematics for electronic technology.
- Auto electrical systems and basic auto body work.
- Rules and regulations of Federal Communications Commission to include general terminology and telecommunications systems.
- General rules and regulations of OSHA and CALOSHA.

**Ability to**:

- Read and interpret simple electronic drawings and diagrams.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools to install equipment and to manipulate small tools and delicate equipment with dexterity.
- Follow written and oral instructions.
- Perform mathematical calculations to compute frequency and power requirements.
- Install communications and electronic equipment in a variety of vehicles.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with users, coworkers, and the public.
- Complete tasks in a timely manner to maximize cost efficiency.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Exercise sound judgment within established policies, rules, and guidelines when dealing with emergency medical services, fire departments, law enforcement agencies, and all public safety end users.
- Establish and maintain a proactive approach to customer relations.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES**

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associates degree in electronics or a related field **or** one year of full-time experience in the installation and repair of communications equipment that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities.

**Disaster Service Workers**: All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109).
