**About ACCE**:
The Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE) is dedicated to raising the voices of everyday Californians, neighborhood by neighborhood, so that current and future generations have the ability to live in stronger communities and have access to expanded opportunities.

ACCE is a statewide community organization working with thousands of members across the state to create transformative change by helping ordinary citizens to organize and take action. Some of ACCE’s priority program areas include:

- Fighting for affordable and secure housing by holding banks and corporations accountable for their bad business practices
- Defending vital services by reforming California’s broken fiscal system
- Giving our children the opportunity to succeed through sound education reform; and
- Improving access to health care

Please note that ACCE does not provide community services. Rather, we work directly in neighborhoods with local residents to advocate for the change they want to see in their communities.

**Lead Organizer**:
The Alliance of California for Community Empowerment (ACCE) is seeking a **Lead Organizer **for the
Oakland Office. ACCE is a multi-issue, membership-based community organization, building the power and voice of indigent and working families across the state of California. With offices in 6 cities, ACCE works in local communities and statewide to fight for economic, racial, and social justice.

**The Position**:The role of an ACCE Lead Organizer is to broaden the scope of work accomplished within local
ACCE offices. An ACCE Lead Organizer deepens membership recruitment by focusing on leadership development, manages broader campaign work alongside the local membership, promotes the work of ACCE through involvement in strategic partnerships and participation in fundraising activities, and supervises and develops local ACCE Field Organizing staff.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities - Lead Organizer I**:

- Full participation in advanced organizing trainings. Topics that will likely be covered include: o Staff management o Finances and Budgeting o External Fundraising o Leadership committee management
- Coalitions/external relationships
- Spend at least 4 hours per day Identifying and recruiting new community leaders through geographic or issue outreach, or campaign activities o Minimum standard = 10 full dues paying members per month

**-**Work with members to ensure regular membership or campaign meetings are held
**-**Work with members on short and long term goal planning in order to maintain chapter and/or campaign activities
- Maintain a deeper leadership development model by training new members to utilize member-to-member recruitment strategies o Minimum standard = 50% of personally recruited members become engaged in member-to-member activities per month
- Manage a self sufficiency program with leaders that achieves fundraising of at least $500 per month
**-**Complete successful geographic/issue-based organizing projects, as needed
- Full participation in occasional out-of-town organizational meetings & trainings
- **Key Qualifications - Lead Organizer I**:_
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish (not required but encouraged)
- Minimum 18 months organizing experience
- Successful completion of at least 2 organizing projects
- Demonstrate ability to effectively recruit individuals who identify as members of an organized group
- Understanding of power structures that exist within relevant geographic or issue-based organizing projects
- Has worked with members to plan and implement a local or issue campaign
- Demonstrated success with grassroots fundraising techniques

**Key Duties and Responsibilities - Lead Organizer II**:

- Full participation in advanced organizing trainings. Topics that will likely be covered include: o Integrating organizing and fundraising o Working with city-wide leadership teams o Developing and maintaining relationships with external funders o Advanced staff management techniques

**-**Demonstrate leadership in meeting local office membership recruitment and leadership development goals through individual member recruitment **or **management of field organizers to meet the collective goals

**-**Work with members to ensure regular membership or campaign meetings are held
**-**Work with members on short and long term goal planning in order to maintain chapter and/or campaign activities
- Manage a self sufficiency program with leaders and/or staff that achieves fundraising of at least $1000 per month
- Manage a campaign and/or operational budget as determined by supervisor o Includes regular review of budget with relevant member committee
- If needed, represent ACCE within coalitions and at other meetings
