**Wellness Counselor - **U.S. Army **Criminal Investigation Division (**USA**CID)**

**Overview**:
SRI provides wellness counseling support services to personnel assigned to the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID). This is a preventive behavioral health approach that helps individuals identify and remedy work and life stressors to maintain optimal levels of resilience and readiness, as well as encourage help-seeking behavior. This program cultivates an environment that places utmost importance on the mental well-being of individuals working in law enforcement roles, who often face continuous exposure to traumatic experiences. Preventive behavioral health services include individual and family counseling, psychoeducation, critical incident event management, case management, leadership and professional consultation, and informal contacts that integrate the wellness of personnel and their families.

This position is contingent upon a contract award from the US Army.

**Duties/Responsibilities**
- Counselors will provide preventive counseling services to CID personnel. Preventive counseling is non-diagnostic level counseling with the focus on identifying and working through life and work-related stressors.
- Counselors operate from a hub location and travel to supported locations within their area of responsibility to ensure all CID personnel have direct access to services. Counseling services can be performed either in person or through tele counseling.
- Counselors will conduct quarterly assessments for each designated location within their area of responsibility for the purpose of determining whether an in-person visit is necessary.
- Counselors will visit each designated location associated within their hub area of responsibility with visits to a site lasting between two and seven days. Visits to supported locations are for the purpose of providing face-to-face counseling services.
- Counselors may need to travel for critical incident events, requested training, or attendance at leadership conferences specified by USACID leadership.
- If the counselor identifies a routine mental health issue that warrants further treatment, the counselor will collaborate with the individual to identify appropriate behavioral health referrals.
- Counselors will offer basic relationship counseling services to those experiencing relationship and/or martial stressors.
- Each counselor manages approximately 65-100 Agents/personnel, noting that not all shall require ongoing and/or consistent care.
- Counselors will perform case management services for all USACID personnel referred for treatment outside of the Wellness Program. Case management consists of coordinating and monitoring progress and needs to ensure that appropriate services are provided as a result of the referral for treatment.
- Counselors will provide case management for individuals following treatment in inpatient care, substance abuse programs, or any referrals to resources for long-term treatment. Those who have received such care will follow up with their counselor upon termination of treatment to ensure that treatment has been adequately completed.
- Counselors will track all cases through a specific case management tracker provided by the Government.

**Required **Education/**Skills/Abilities**
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a master’s degree from an accredited graduate program.
- Valid unrestricted license from a State, the District of Columbia, a U.S. Commonwealth, or a U.S. Territory that grants authority to provide counseling services as an independent practitioner.
- Ability to practice at the independent level without requiring state mandated clinical supervision and demonstrate a working knowledge of professional standards and ethics.
- Experience in behavioral interventions, critical incident event management, public speaking, and case management.
- Proof of professional liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence and $3,000,000 aggregate.
- At least six years of full-time professional experience post-licensure.
- Must have a firm understanding of law enforcement as well as the military lifestyle and culture.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds, including enlisted and officer personnel and senior military/civilian leadership.
- Well-versed in crisis debriefing, individual and family counseling, case management, and training.
- Ability to develop, prepare, and present formal presentations and speeches to senior military leadership.
