**JOB SUMMARY**:The Garden Coordinator will manage and maintain all aspects of multiple fruit and vegetable nutrition gardens across Martin County. They will coordinate the planning, layout and design of current and future garden spaces to maximize production, efficiency and safety while using a variety of gardening techniques including raised beds, edible landscaping, permaculture, hydroponics, container gardening and more. The Garden Coordinator will manage small and large groups of volunteers at the gardens.

This position is under the supervision of the Director of Enrichment and Engagement and will work closely with volunteers as well as HOH collaborative partners.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Manage all aspects of garden sites in collaboration with volunteers and students, including planting, pruning, weeding, disease/pest management, harvesting, etc.

2. Perform manual agricultural, hydroponic, aeroponic, and horticultural tasks.

3. Identify plants as well as problems such as diseases, weeds, and pests.

4. Purchase materials, equipment, or other resources.

5. Inspect condition or functioning of facilities or equipment.

6. Perform manual service or maintenance tasks.

7. Explain and enforce safety regulations and policies

8. Work with volunteers and groups to achieve the goals of the program.

9. Act as community liaison to local agriculture organizations, businesses and other potential partners and resources.

10. Act as an ambassador for House of Hope, attend meetings and serve on committees as assigned.

11. Provide support to fellow department team members, as well as outside departments, as needed.

12. Attend training as requested.

13. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**1. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE**:
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Two years of gardening and/or related experience required.

Supervisory experience preferred.

**2. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:
A. Knowledge of gardening techniques and South Florida planting seasons.

B. Knowledge of safe use of basic gardening tools.

C. Ability to organize, set priorities and meet deadlines.

D. Ability to work with and manage volunteers.

E. Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion; maintain confidentiality of clients, co-workers and agency.

F. Ability to relate well to individuals of all backgrounds and socio-economic levels.

G. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, donors, volunteers, co-workers and board members, verbally and in writing.

H. Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.

I. Ability to operate and use general office equipment.

J. Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, work occasional evening and weekend hours, as required.

K. Ability to maintain clean, well-groomed appearance and dress appropriately for the position.

L. Must have driving and towing experience, reliable transportation with acceptable insurance coverage and valid, clean Florida’s driver’s license.

M. Must be mechanically inclined.

N. Compliance with House of Hope policies and procedures.
