**Job Summary**:
Function as a ground man for the crane during product stripping, hauling off to storage area and/or loading of trucks. Function as a helper on the extruding machine. Perform housekeeping throughout the plant. Function as a helper on the wire/setup crew. Perform plant grounds maintenance. Assist mechanics conducting plant maintenance. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

**Duties/Responsibilities**:

- Manually position stripping clamps on the product and operate the device that locks and unlocks the clamps.
- Visually communicate with the crane operator to lift, lower, and position the clamps and product.
- Manually place dunnage to set the product on.
- Manually make small adjustments to the position of the product for stacking.
- Manually adjust the position of the slider bars on the spreader beam for proper location of the stripping clamps on the product.
- Manually remove or replace the stripping clamps from/onto the spreader bar.
- Manually remove or replace the lifting straps from or onto the spreader bar.
- Manually adjust the position of the slider bars on the spreader beam for proper location of the lifting straps.
- Manually place lifting straps on the product stacks.
- Manually place dunnage in the storage area for placement of product.
- Visually signal the crane operator to pick up, set down, and position product for placement in storage.
- Assist in the maintenance and greasing of the cranes using various hand held tools and grease guns.
- Use various hand tools to adjust and maintain the extruder machine as directed by the crew Leadman.
- Grease the extruder using a hand held grease gun.
- Manually pull strand cable for placement in the casting bead headers.
- Assist in placing spools of strand into strand racks.
- Assist in the maintenance of the strand “rabbit” using various hand tools and grease guns.
- Using shovels and brooms to clean concrete debris and other debris throughout the plant.
- Use a breaker bar to aid in the removal of concrete debris.
- Operate and use weed eaters, push type lawn mowers, riding mowers and other hand held landscaping tools.
- Assist in the maintenance of the weed eater and lawn mowers using various hand tools and grease guns.
- Assist plant mechanics in the maintenance of the plant using various hand and power tools and grease guns.
- General housekeeping in the shop areas, restrooms, lunchroom and throughout the plant.
- Constantly work in outdoor weather conditions.

**Required Skills/Abilities**:

- Good hand-eye coordination
- Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus
- Communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safety rules

**Education and Experience**:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. On-the-job training offered. Precast/construction experience is preferred, but not required.

**Physical Requirements**:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, twist, walk, must be able to use various hand tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance on elevated surfaces; and stoop, kneel, squat, crouch or crawl. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Constant and continual medium to heavy manual, physical labor is required for this position.

Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as work boots, hard hats, work gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection. This is an indoor/outdoor work environment: Exposure to sun, heat, humidity, cold, wind, light rain, sand, and dust.
