**OBJECTIVE**

As a member of the Gilson Prepress department, a Prepress Technician utilizes professional publishing, imaging, and prepress software to prepare electronic files for offset, digital, and wide-format printing based on Gilson equipment specifications and customer needs.

**SUPERVISOR**

Position reports to the Prepress Department Manager.

**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Review and understand supplied job specifications and requirements
- Work collaboratively with Estimators, Production, Sales, Customer Service, Managers and Graphic Designers
- Collect data on job-by-job activities and materials for proper cost accounting
- Read and interpret job tickets, layouts, and press impositions
- Work cooperatively within the Prepress team in a busy, fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Format files to comply with USPS mailing standards (if applicable)
- Troubleshoot file or file processing problems
- Interact directly with customers on occasion with Sales or CSR direction to train or help them understand electronic proofing or proper file preparation
- Work with team members and the department manager to develop, implement, and maintain improved prepress workflow solutions
- Participate in team meetings
- Create hard or soft proofs for final review prior to production, sometimes making suggested edits until a final design is approved
- Assess file suitability for printing by checking and double-checking critical aspects of images, text, die lines, spot colors, etc.

**REQUIREMENTS**

- **Education and Training**_
- Bachelor’s degree in Print Management or one to two years of experience preferred Experience
- Minimum of five years in offset, digital, or wide-format printing manufacturing Attitude - High expectations of self and others
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Passion for printing and graphic arts
- Positive attitude with internal and external customers
- **Knowledge and Aptitude**_
- Use and learn specialized printing imposition software
- Maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment
- Organize time around multiple time-sensitive projects
- Strong working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro)
- Learn and adapt to new technologies
- Knowledge of printing substrates, inks, coatings and finishing processes
- Follow procedures and established best practices

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
