**Position Summary**

The Lab Coordinator will oversee our administrative and operational laboratory needs. They will play a key role in shaping the employee culture and SafeTiva’s client services. They will assist the Laboratory Director in the smooth operations, staffing, inventory, and vendor and client relationships for our company. They will provide operational leadership and coordination of facility and equipment maintenance operations, and the laboratory safety program. They will act as the company’s Chemical Hygiene Officer.

**Detailed Responsibilities**
- Oversee general maintenance of facilities, health and safety compliance, and laboratory supply/equipment management
- Oversee laboratory housekeeping
- Be familiar with the day-to-day operations from sample intake to sample disposal
- Assist in cannabis sample destruction
- Review, record, and organize data in the LIMS
- Maintain compliance with SOPs, state regulations, and ISO 17025
- Perform monthly inventory checks and order new consumables as needed
- Manage and select outside vendor relationships for building maintenance and related work
- Identify opportunities to improve service and value from vendors
- Review work performed by vendors and approve ad-hoc improvements to services
- Ensure that all vendors and service providers are compliant with requirements for contracts, purchase orders, insurance, training and access
- Schedule routine preventative maintenance and equipment calibrations with external providers or assist Lab Director/Quality personnel in doing so
- Oversee facility and equipment maintenance with external service providers and schedule routine preventative maintenance as well as calibrations
- Train laboratory staff on safety procedures
- Procurement, tracking of ordering, receipt of packages, verifying packing slips
- Provide direction and guidance on all facilities and safety-related activities
- Assist Quality personnel and Lab Director in updating SOPs, quality policies, and other QMS documents
- Assist with lab work such as sample prep and loading instruments
- Act as Chemical Hygiene Officer for the company: manage and update company’s Chemical Hygiene Plan, coordinate with Lab Director for emergency preparedness and responses, as needed.
- Manage laboratory waste disposal program in coordination with outside waste management provider
- Monitor and update waste stream profiles
- Assist Accounting Manager in maintaining ordering, invoicing, and inventory records
- Conduct occasional sample pickups with other staff members
- Perform other duties as assigned

**Skills and Competencies**
- Proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Ability to develop proficiency with our LIMS and METRC
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- High degree of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality

- Knowledge of HAZMAT handling programs
- Experience managing facilities and/or large-scale facilities projects
- Ability to read facility/building drawings and diagrams
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment or materials
- Experience in cost-reduction programs and vendor management
- Ability to follow the established Environmental Health & Safety procedures
- Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets
- Experience providing and developing a safety training program
- Experience with laboratory safety standards and procedures, including biohazard handling and disposal techniques, and the ability to ensure laboratory compliance with required safety regulations

**Education and Experience**
- Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) or related work experience
- 3-5 years of experience with lab operations and/or lab management
- Up-to-date chemical hygiene training
- Strong computer and data management skills, ideally including a LIMS
- Experience in a commercial testing lab with cannabis testing preferred
- ISO 17025 experience preferred

**Requirements**:

- Must be 21+ and pass an extensive background check and must not have been convicted of an excluded felony offense as defined in 105 CRM 725.030
- Able to speak and read English
- Authorized to work in the US
- Must be vaccinated and boosted against Covid-19 or willing to test weekly
- Able to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions
- Able to reliably commute to Westfield, MA

Pay: $65,000.00 per year
