The **Department of Revenue** is looking for a self-motivated individual to provide leadership and direction to staff in our Compliance Bureau, State Debt Collection Unit. The position location is flexible and may be in Appleton, Green Bay; Eau Claire, Wausau; Madison, or Milwaukee.

**Position Summary**:
This position acts as a lead worker primarily responsible for administering and achieving compliance for Wisconsin's State Debt Collection (SDC) unit. An understanding of tax laws administered by the department will also be necessary. This position will help lead staff, provide training and mentoring, and oversee staff initiation of collection activities. This position is also responsible for assisting in the direction, and development of professional staff within the Compliance Bureau. Compliance Lead Workers participate in overseeing the call center, handling escalated customer calls, ensuring understanding of department procedures, and enforcing collection philosophy to maximize agent efficiency. The work is performed under general supervision of the SDC unit supervisor.

**Salary Information**:
Starting salary will be between $ 26.34/hour and $36.00/hour per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Current state employees' pay will be set in accordance with pay upon appointment provisions for the compensation plan. This classification is in pay schedule/pay range 07-03. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

**Job Details**:

- The department will conduct a background check, fingerprint check and tax compliance check on all finalists.Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. The Department of Revenue does not sponsor work or student visas, either at time of hire or at any later time. DOR participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information for all new employees to confirm authorization to work in the U.S.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience collecting delinquent debt or providing customer service by phone, in person, and/or in writing
- Experience working with Wisconsin income, sales/use, and/or withholding taxes
- Mentoring/Training experience
- Experience with advanced collection actions such as legal garnishments, supplemental hearings, execution of tax warrants
- Experience collecting statewide debt, income, sales/use and/or withholding taxes
- Experience approving and/or reviewing work for quality
- Experience researching complex individual income tax topics
- Experience handling difficult or escalated customer phone calls
- Experience leading teams or projects
