**Duties**:

- Manage daily activities for maintenance on vessels, marine equipment and facilities infrastructure.
- Perform welding responsibilities such as stick, tig, mig, oxy acetylene and brazing.
- Operate machine shop machinery to include drill presses, lathes, milling machines and/or threading machines.
- Manage an effective Preventative Maintenance program for all facilities and/or marine equipment.
- Manage stock levels for replacement parts to minimize marine facilities and/or supporting machinery down time.
- Take readings of temperature (pyrometer), water and oil pressures, to ensure proper operation of engines.
- Troubleshoot marine engines using test equipment to determine repairs needed.
- Maintain vessel propulsion systems to respond to marine emergency calls.

**Conditions of Employment**:

- This position may require that the Incumbent be willing to work in inclement weather such as heat, cold, rain and/or snow.
- This position requires a valid, State-issued motor vehicles driver's license or being able to obtain and maintain a driver's license within 30 days of employment.
- This position requires the incumbent to travel away from duty location on business travel up to 5% of the time.
- This position is considered to be emergency essential; the incumbent is required to report for duty during emergency situations.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully pass a pre-employment physical evaluation by a certified medical professional and maintain physical readiness to perform the duties of this position.
- This position requires to obtain and maintain a Dept. of Public Safety Hoisting Engineer License minimum of 2B.

- **SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT FOR GS 11**:one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes any FOUR of the following: (1) Manage daily activities for the maintenance and repairs on vessels, marine equipment and facilities infrastructure; (2) Manage all matters pertaining to maintenance and repair of vessels, infrastructure and equipment; procurement of equipment and supplies. (3) Take readings of temperature (pyrometer), water and oil pressures, to ensure proper regulation and operation of engines, and foresees need of maintenance and repair of equipment to alleviate breakdowns. (4) Perform, set up, repair, and maintain marine propulsion units, vessel equipment, diesel marine engines and outboard engines and all boats. (5) Operate machine shop machinery such as a drill press, lathe, milling machine and threading machine. (6) Perform welding to include stick, tig, mig, oxy acetylene and brazing. (7) Perform fabrication to include ship fitting, pipe threading, and metal fabrication. (8) Mange a facility equipment tracking and management system such as Facility Equipment Management System (FEMS) or equivalent.

**EDUCATION**:Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as marine engineering, facilities engineering, facilities management, marine business management or a similar field of study. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
- **OR**
**COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**:A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
