**Duties**:
This position reports to the Associate Administrator for Communications. The Deputy Associate Administrator for Communications:

- Leads a diverse team of matrixed/geographically-dispersed employees, representing all NASA Centers, across the United States. Manages a large team of Communication Specialists who develop media strategies and ensure Centers and other program offices are adequately prepared to communicate their missions internally to Agency employees, and externally to the media and the general public.
- Develops and implements long-term, forward-looking communication strategies and plans that enable more strategic and effective communications operations.
- Oversees the preparation and distribution of news, video, social media, photo releases, mission commentary, films radio and television programs, including supplementary program material, publications, consumer products, partnerships and books.
- Fosters and facilitates strategic partnerships and alliances with key stakeholder groups both internal and external - including, but not limited to, all NASA Centers and organizations, industry partners, and educational and non-profit organizations to increase NASA's capacity to inform the NASA workforce and to reach, engage and inform the public.
- Builds and maintains the agency's communication capabilities and deliver all elements of communications planning/implementation for Center and regional communication activities.
- Leads activities associated with news conferences, briefings, speech preparation, public ceremonies, town halls, signings, conferences, exhibits, launches, and other special events. Oversees guest operations and speaker engagements.
- Manages NASA participation in community affairs and/or activities for the purpose of disseminating information to the general public.
- Fosters and continually drives a culture of engagement, diversity, inclusiveness, excellence, and innovation within and outside of the organization and NASA. **Conditions of Employment**:

- The individual selected will be required to file an 'Executive Branch Personnel Financial Disclosure Report' (OGE-278) in accordance with the Ethics in Government Act of 1978.
- Successful completion of a background investigation commensurate with the risk and sensitivity level of the position.
- Successful completion of pre-employment and random drug testing may be required.
- Must meet qualifications requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

**Qualifications**:

- You must have the skill and ability to perform the duties described above as demonstrated by progressively responsible supervisory/leadership experience, normally obtained over several years by serving in positions at the GS-15 level or equivalent.-

**MTQ 1- **Demonstrated experience developing, leading, and advancing communications activities and programs of national scope and impact for a dynamic and multifaceted agency or organization. This includes experience building and leading diverse teams responsible for a range of communications functions.
