**STATEMENT OF PURPOSE**:Provides educational services and assessments, under the guidance of the office administrator and within the committee structure, curriculum building, instructional materials, lessons, and other activities to support There Is Hope’s goals and objectives in accordance with the mission statement. The Teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and psychological growth.

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**

**CERTIFICATES and LICENSES**

Master’s degree in education, current state teaching license or appropriate Department of Education variance/waiver. Teaching English as a second language/teaching English to speakers of other languages certification or other languages certification or other appropriate accrediting body and additional training to meet the special need of unaccompanied children.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

**INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES**

1. Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to There Is Hope’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.

2. Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.

3. Modifies, plans and implements instructional resources, including lesson plans to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.

4. Assists, under the guidance of the committee structure, in reviewing and implementing curriculum needs and offers plans for improvement.

5. Maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures, including but not limited to weekly lesson plans, prompt attendance entries, grade and progress reporting.

6. Provides a positive learning environment, in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process and develop good study habits.

7. Prepares a substitute folder containing key information that will be used by the teacher assistant.

8. Recognizes learning opportunities and makes referrals as needed. Provides documentation to the Child Study Team, including the interventions that the teacher has done with the student.

9. Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, and other professionals on a regular basis.

10. Coordinates activities for Teacher Assistants to handle while they’re volunteering in the classroom.

12. Monitors and evaluates student performance goals, under the guidance of Administration and the Curriculum Accountability Coordinator.

13. Maintains appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference, meeting and planning time.

**CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT**

1. Establishes reasonable rules of classroom behavior

2. School’s discipline guidelines and policies for students not adhering to school rules.

3. Takes measures to prevent accidents and protect students, staff, equipment, materials and the facility.

**CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT and PLANNING**

1. Assists with ongoing curriculum review, under the guidance of the facility manager. This may include reviewing materials for specific academic areas.

2. Works within the guidelines and follows the approved curriculum.

3. Researches and works with Administration to suggest optimum possible timelines or dates for curriculum activities.

**STUDENT INFORMATION and EVALUATIONS**

1. Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, families, and staff in accordance with accepted professional standards and state and federal laws.

2. Evaluates student performance through examination, homework assignments and other methods.

3. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
