Summer Weekend Staff

This is a seasonal position at Sunnyside Gardens Park in Sunnyside NY that reports jointly to the Park Director, Park President and Park Manager.

Responsibilities focus on helping to maintain a safe and enjoyable space for all members of the Park during our busy months of May through November, on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (pending specific staff schedules and needs), as well as during our events within this time period.

You will be expected to complete the following specific tasks during your shift, as well as follow instructions and requests from the Park Director as needed.

This is an hourly position, with a rate of $16.50/hr, without benefits.
- Assist Park members, their families, and guests throughout the day by answering questions and providing information and support.
- Monitor all Park activity, making sure members and visitors are following Park rules, focused on busy areas. This may include ensuring members do not have glass, cleaning up the Grove, putting away toys, ensuring children are behaving safely and appropriately, and more.
- Own Gate Check by sitting at the front entrance during the shift, and checking in members as they enter, and ensuring fees for guests are collected.
- Monitor the Grove reservations by ensuring the area is setup for parties on Saturdays and Sundays (tables organized by group, garbages put out), ensuring members clear out trash and and end their parties on time, and are following Park rules.
- Help ensure events run smoothly day-of, including assisting with setup and being on site to assist with any tasks on the day (e.g. taking out trash, jumping in to help volunteers, etc).
- Conduct light facilities work to ensure the Park runs smoothly.
- Maintain professional communication with prospective and existing Park Members, Board Members, and Park Guests.
- Support the senior Park staff in closing the Park, and own opening the Park when scheduled (e.g. unlocking, ensuring the Park is clean and ready for members).
