**General Summary**

The Court Financial Specialist is responsible for performing fines management (collections) duties, compliance monitoring (monitoring of alcohol screening, and required mandated classes), monthly and daily reconciliations; tracking of defendants’ fines/fees payments, preparing financial reports; preparing and auditing daily deposits; and reconciling accounts.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Research laws, practices and procedures on collection issues and implements methods to resolve collections issues. Ensures collection practices and procedures comply with court policies and legal mandates. Conducts research; determines and raises pertinent issues; summarizes findings; presents results; administers programs; and performs other related duties.
- Manages, coordinates, and administers special projects and financial matters, which may include sets up payment contracts; establishes and monitors timelines; coordinates the court’s fines management program; and ensures compliance with applicable regulations, specifications, and/or requirements.
- Manages and updates internal fines collections practice, tracking, and generate reports.
- Research, reconciliation, and statistical methods
- Prepare daily and monthly reconciliation and reports, and daily deposits of court funds.
- Assists public at information counter and on the telephone, resolving various levels of customer service needs.
- Enters, edits, and retrieves data utilizing court-specific computer software.
- Performs file management functions including alphabetical and numerical case filing, creating new case files, tracking case files, matching documents to case files, and researching record requests.
- Collects, posts, and balances fines and fees. Reconciles daily cash transactions using court-specific computer software and Microsoft Excel.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

**Minimum and Preferred Entrance Qualifications**

**Education and Experience**
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Four (4) years of court/clerical/collections experience.
- One (1) year of court collections experience.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge and experience of AJACS case management system and collection procedures preferred.

**Competencies for Successful Performance of Job Duties**

**Knowledge of**:

- Fair collection practices and procedures.
- City Code, Arizona court system, Arizona Revised Statutes, Arizona Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedures, and legal terminology and courtroom behavior.
- AJACS case management software.
- Research, reconciliation, and statistical methods.
- Public administration concepts and theories.
- Account reconciliation practices, procedures, and techniques.
- Minimum Accounting Standards (MAS).
- Principles of record keeping and records management.
- Judicial Employee Code of Conduct.

**Skill in**:

- Fines collection techniques and compliance enforcement.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with employees, officials, other agencies, and the general public.
- Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software including AJACS court computer system.

Pay: $52,528.00 - $79,857.96 per year
