Fairbox Clerk

The Cashier is responsible for counting and securing the COLT Bus drop box contents and must comply with established policies and procedures.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:

- Open the cashier’s room and empty drop boxes as necessary. Each drop box is emptied into a plastic container along with its entire contents
- After all the boxes have been emptied, begin counting and place them in plastic bags
- After all the plastic bags have been filled, Note the amounts for currency and coins on deposit slips.
- Keep track of the driver’s run sheets on the weekly tally sheets to ensure all the routes and money are accounted for.
- Bundle the one-dollar bills to $100, and place the counted coins into a coin bag, but do not exceed $550.00 due to the weight of the coins.
- Place the counted money into cash and coin bags and prepare the deposit slips.
- At month-end, make sure to separate one month from another so that the counts will be accurate.
- Notify dispatch of any missing run sheets as soon as you are aware of the shortage. Also, notify the General Manager
- Gather all the bus transfers and count them,
- Gather non-U.S. coins, torn or partial currency, and place them to the side.
- Whenever you leave the cashier’s room, make sure the door is secured and locked
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

- Possess cultural awareness and sensitive
- Demonstrate sound work ethics

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Able to spend extended periods of time sitting
- Able to lift 20 lbs
- Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction
- Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction
