**Position Description**:
**About the Department Services**:

- The Legal Services and Public Affairs Office (LSPAO) provides legal guidance and direction to Department staff, drafts, and reviews legal documents, manages contracts, coordinates procurement activities and works with the other agencies and community-based organizations to better serve youth and families referred to the Department. The LSPAO also works with staff to facilitate the implementation of the Department’s programs and services through the processing of contractor, volunteer, and intern background checks; program approval; and orientation; and works with Executive Management to monitor contract compliance. The Office serves as the primary point of contact for news media, organizations and the public seeking information about the department.

**About the Position**:
The Contracts and Legal Services Coordinator shall be responsible for working with the Executive Team, Department staff, and current and prospective vendors. Specifically, the Coordinator will assess Department service needs, initiate the quotation process, approvals, and implementation; maintain prospective vendor databases; respond to general telephone inquiries concerning doing business with the county; perform National Crime Information Center (NCIC), Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC), and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) checks; and perform all other duties as assigned.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Receives, documents, schedules reminders, and provides status updates for Legal Services and Public Affairs and other Executive Administration staff regarding vendor processing.
- Develops, writes, prints, and sends out routine communications and notices to department staff, community partners, and other governmental entities.
- Conducts vendor orientations, schedules and conducts meetings with prospective vendors, and maintains regular telephone contact with prospective and current vendors.
- Generates program and administrative reports for Executive Administration.

**Education and Experience**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related field and
- Five (5) years of paid experience working with at-risk or underserved populations in the non-profit or government sector.

**OR**
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution and
- Seven (7) years of paid experience working with at-risk or underserved populations in the non-profit or government sector.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Demonstrate strong knowledge of programs, services, and activities that may be of interest to children, adolescents, and families.
- Familiar with community-based organizations, governmental entities, advocacy groups, and others who have an interest in serving at-risk youth.
- Knowledgeable about the Texas Juvenile Justice System, and policies and procedures as they relate to the management of department-wide programs and services.
- Ability to analyze information, and make limited independent decisions that are within the scope of assigned/acquired duties.
- Decisions should be made utilizing professional and ethical standards, positive benefits to youth and families, efficiency, security, staff and financial implications, and the overall impact of the proposed program, service, or special event.

**Licensure**:
- Valid Texas Driver's license. (Employee must maintain liability insurance in at least the minimum amounts required by law.)**Additional Requirements**:

- If public emergency is declared by county, staff could be assigned to other duties and/or facilities and/or under the supervision of another county department.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
