Art/makerspace Teacher

**Job responsibilities**:

- Planning lessons on art for our K-8th grade students. Art will be conducted 2-3x/week for 30 minutes.
- Create engaging projects students can work on throughout thematic units in the course of the school year
- Preparing the classroom by gathering and setting up equipment
- Developing students’ drawing, coloring, and painting techniques
- Providing instruction on the use of media such as graphite and charcoal pencils, as well as watercolor paint.
- Ensuring that the classroom is clean after each lesson.
- Monitoring inventory and sourcing art supplies, as needed.
- Create a Makerspace environment that allows for and encourages the use of tools, materials, and open-ended exploration at an age appropriate level for all students K-8.
- Develop a curriculum that allows students to innovate, build, design, and bring their own unique ideas to life through all areas of STEM education, including, but not limited to, engineering, science, art, crafts, technology, and math.
- Guide, bolster, and inspire students in acquiring new skills, navigating both successes and setbacks, and help foster a deeply collaborative environment.

**Job requirements**:

- Prior experience as an art teacher or STEM/Makerspace teacher.
- Demonstrated excellence in a variety of art techniques.
- The ability to be flexible with the large number of students that this role is serving.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to plan for community events for art shows, which includes the availability to work during evenings, on occasion.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
