**Duties**:
These temporary positions are established for the completion of an assigned project(s) requiring journey level commercial or industrial carpentry and wood crafting skills to install, reverse or replace metal doors, install metal framing, drywall, etc.

Positions will either be Day or Night. Shift will be decided upon selection. Hours may change due to Operational Needs of Management

Day Shift (4:00 AM - 12:30 PM)

Night Shift (8:00 PM - 4:30 AM)

**Major Duties**

Reviews blueprints and drawings provided, to assemble and/or re-manufacture parts and pieces of historic wood items or splice in new wood with old since the historic features of many Capitol Hill structures must be precisely recreated and/or modified to exact specifications.

Performs Journey level tasks with metal lath, plastering, block-work, framing with metal studs, drywall, acoustical ceiling, installing locks and elaborate wooden moldings and/or trim work. Constructs and repairs high grade wooden items including decorative wood work with intricate and detailed features.

Installs hollow metal doors, frames and hardware plumb and level. Adjusts door height and width. Installs, repairs and adjusts hydraulic or pneumatic door checks and door closers. Reverses the egress of metal doors and/or installs new doors.

Works from complete designs or sketches, to build concrete forms, (foundations, columns; wall forms beams, girders, catch basins, stairways, floor systems, stairways, walls, one-way joist construction, one-way slabs, two-way joist construction, waffle slab construction, curtain walls, composite constructions, boxed headers and beams, beam and girder framing, bolster beam and slabs, conductive flooring, composite flooring, dropped girders, grade beams, haunches floors, key-ways, L-beams and mushroom wales, sump holes).

Uses all standard power and hand tools required by a journey level carpenter including but not laminated too: Circular saws, hammer-drills, orbital sawzall, rotary hammers, driver/drills, electromagnetic drill motors, core drilling machines, magnum compound miter saw, portable electric band saws, screw shooters, routers, orbit finishing sanders & grinders, table saws, sheet finish sander, drill press, variable speed jig-saw, portable band saw, band saws, spiral saws, radial arm saws, lathes, bench grinder, machine hacksaw, laser levels, mortise tanners, machine planer, pro-plug, shapers, unisaw, electric welder, arc welders, plasma welders, jointures and butt chisel machine.

Makes and repairs high grade wooden items such as cabinetry, book shelves, stand-up desks, racks and other items, including decorative woodwork. These items have intricate, precise and fancy features and details such as curved and contoured surfaces, marquetry, book matched panels, scrollwork, friezes, inlays and complex joints.

Measures sizes of doors to be installed, measures and cuts openings in walls for door frames, cuts and saws materials for door jambs and lintels at the top of the frames and installs door frames. Hangs doors, installs doorknobs and hardware. Installs, adjusts and repairs door jamb catches and base molding.

Complies with all safety and health practices, OSHA regulations and wears required protective equipment.
