**Job Summary**

Reporting to the Trades Manager, the Locksmith A safely performs the complex tasks within the maintenance specialty related to the locksmith and facility security functions of the College. Operates key cutting machines including cutting keys by code, with code sets, or on combinations; adjusts, maintain, service calibrate and repair key machines; re-cores cylinders; changes and installs locks on doors, cabinets, file cabinets and desks; repairs and changes door closures and panic hardware; full knowledge of Onity card access.

This position is represented for purposes of collective bargaining by Teamsters.

**Job Duties**
- 45% - Accomplishes detailed solutions to complicated problems; solutions are inventive. Installations are of high quality and professional looking. Operates key cutting machines including cutting keys by code, with code sets, or on combinations; adjusts, maintain, service calibrate and repair key machines; re-cores cylinders; changes and installs locks on doors, cabinets, file cabinets and desks; repairs and changes door closures and panic hardware; full knowledge of Onity card access. Repair safes and/or safe locking systems; maintain records, registers and appropriate key identification systems; performs maintenance and installation and stays current on the technology of advanced access control devices and software. Able to adjust doors for proper fit and install weather stripping to entire opening. - (Essential)
- 45% - Uses a variety of hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdriver), power hand tools (e.g. drill, buffer) and specialized power tools (e.g. key cutter) to perform all the basic duties related to maintenance, repair and installation of locking and facility security tasks. Maintains shop records and inventory control. Keeps track of own labor, materials and supplies used and reports these accurately. Receives specific instructions from immediate supervisor as to work assignments and quantity and quality of work expectations. Responsible for training positions within the Locksmith area. Supports all campus events. - (Essential)

**Minimum Qualifications**
- High school diploma for GED. Minimum of five years of experience as a Locksmith. Possesses some knowledge of related trades such as carpentry. Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the locksmith trade, including complex access and control systems; a thorough knowledge of all types of locks, fastening devices and related hardware; applicable state codes pertaining to the locksmith trade including those related to fire exits, door hardware and fastening devices. Working knowledge of electrical locking and security systems and devices. Knowledge of key blank identification, ace keys, car key, and key stocking/ordering. Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy. Strong commitment to a quality work product.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically. Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies.

EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: The starting base hourly rate for this position is $33.18/hr. After 6 months, the base hourly rate increases to $33.72/hr, and after 12 months, the base hourly rate increases to $34.08/hr. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
