**Position**:Summer Day Camp Director

Adventure Point is a full experience campus serving youth ages 7 - 13 in weekly day camp sessions (5 days/ week). Offering outdoor programs including Archery, Rock Climbing, STEM, Art, Music, Nature, Gardening, Field Games, Teambuilding and more.

**Dates of Employment**: Monday - Friday, June 10 - August 15, 2024. Camp is closed for the holiday, and staff will not work: July 1-5,2024

**Weekly Salary: $425.00**

**Staff Training Week**: June June 10 - 15 2024. On-site training at Adventure Point. All training for on site day camp meets the Michigan State Licensing and Regulation rules and includes behavior management, health and safety, hazardous weather and youth protection.

**Camp Hours**: Camp begins at 8:00 am and ends at 5:00 pm. Lunch is provided, but may bring own food.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION**:
1. Provide Direct Staff Support and Leadership, and assist with Staff Week Training and on site support to Summer Camp Staff.

2. Provide daily support for all campers, including behavior management and mentoring to encourage inclusivity, participation and overall engagement for each youth participant.

3. Ability to lead programs for youth, including planning and delivering engaging and fun daily camp activities.

4. Become familiar with Camp Site Management and Administration including Licensing compliance to assist Facility Director in annual preparation for Michigan Department of Licensing and Environmental Health Inspections.

5. Be first point of contact for Parent/Guardians during morning check-in, helping with camper arrivals and overall guest satisfaction for each family. This shared responsibility will include working with Program Directors, Camp Staff, and Adventure Point Administrators.

**OTHER RELATED RESPONSIBLITIES**:

- Attend all Camp Staff Meetings - to be lead jointly with Program Director
- Share Training delivery for camp staff with Program Director
- Other duties as assigned specific to this position

**POSITION QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Preferred, not required: Four-year degree from accredited university, or equivalent
- People-oriented, having the ability to work well with youth, parents, camp staff, volunteers, community and business leaders, and representatives of other organizations.
- Able to work varied hours when necessary to achieve positive objectives.
- Believe in the BSA and subscribe to its principles and standards.

Training (to be completed online prior to staff training).
- Informal experience teaching youth ages K - 8, or relevant experience in the fields of Science, Creative Arts, Music a plus, but not required. Love of the outdoors is a must
- Ability to work daytime hours Monday through Friday. This position may have options to work year round if interested.
