Birth Assistant

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Birth Assistant to join our team at Katy Birth Center. As a Birth Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting mothers during labor, delivery, and postpartum care. Your responsibilities will include providing emotional and physical support, assisting midwives during births, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for both mothers and newborns.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide continuous support to mothers during labor and delivery, including comfort measures, encouragement, and advocacy for their birth preferences.
- Assist midwives during births by preparing equipment, monitoring vital signs, and providing hands-on assistance as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized birthing environment, including restocking supplies and sterilizing equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team, including midwives and other birth assistants, to ensure seamless care for clients.
- Document client care and observations accurately and in a timely manner.

**Qualifications**:

- Current RN license or previous RN experience required.
- Experience as a Birth Assistant preferred.
- Knowledge of childbirth practices, comfort measures, and breastfeeding support.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and supportive in high-stress situations.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- NRP, CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
