**Overview**:
Private residential high school in Upper Nyack, NY is seeking a Full-Time Child Care Supervisor for Weekends.

**Schedule**:
Thursday/Friday
- 3pm to 11pm

Saturday 8am to 12am

Sunday 2pm to 10pm

**Responsibilities** include, but are not limited to:

- Maintaining and supervising the effective implementation of the organizational philosophy, values, goals, policies, and procedures of The Summit Children’s Residence Center.
- Participating in the development of policies and procedures
- Organizing and supervising the direct care, supervision, and safety of Summit’s population.
- Adhering to, and monitoring of the direct care workers adherence to, the established rules, expectations, policies and procedures of the agency
- Creating Monthly child care staffing schedule, ensuring adequate coverage is provided for each cottage.
- Assigning appropriate replacement or additional child care workers as needed to ensure the safety of residents and staff.
- Maintaining accurate records of childcare/agency worker hours worked
- Conduct walkthroughs in each cottage to check logbooks and ensure staff and students are accounted for.
- Making periodic, unscheduled observations of employees interacting with staff to ensure that staff are fulfilling all responsibilities as indicated in the Direct Care Manual and in respective Job Responsibilities.
- Performing the above mentioned checks at least once per shift per group during the times when residents are customarily awake.
- Performing the above mentioned checks at least twice per shift per group during the times when residents are customarily asleep.
- Monitoring resident records and assisting staff in achieving resident goals.
- Ensuring residents’ needs are met; ensuring and enhancing resident development through active support of programs.
- Listening to and responding to resident and staff raised issues/problems/concerns
- Keeping a log of all significant campus activity in supervisor’s log
- Organizing transportation for students to and from campus.
- Keeping track of all the intended locations and expected return times of all students in off-grounds activity.
- Monitoring and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of units and other parts of the facility.
- Being available by phone or in the supervisor office at all times unless engaged in crisis/emergency situation.
- Providing fair, consistent, and prompt reinforcement and correction to child care workers.
- Reviewing cottage log books to ensure that they are accurately filled out and possess information significant to children in care.
- Managing resident group/room assignments.
- Orienting, training, and monitoring of new employees
- Conducting annual written evaluations and discussing such with each employee.
- Maintaining a safe environment by ensuring that hazardous conditions are ameliorated in a timely manner.
- Providing direct supervision of children when necessary.
- Reporting suspected instances of abuse and maltreatment to the New York State Justice Center hotline.
- Proactively preparing for and intervening in the de-escalation of potential active crisis or emergency situations.
- Familiarizing him/herself with the Individual Crisis Support Plans of all residents.
- Responding to and providing or assisting in appropriate crisis intervention strategies during pre-crisis/crisis/emergency situations.
- Utilizing TCI-approved verbal de-escalation and (when required) physical intervention skills during crisis interventions.
- Managing residents that are Absent Without Consent (AWOC) in accordance with accepted agency procedures.
- Initiating Close and Continuous Supervision when he/she believes that a student is in imminent danger to harm to her/himself or others.
- Conducting fire and emergency drills at required intervals
- Familiarizing him/herself with Summit’s Emergency Operations Plan, and utilizing agency procedures when responding to emergencies.
- When warranted, taking the lead role in managing emergency situations.
- Contacting, or assigning a designee to contact parents/guardians in any instance where their child is: AWOC, restrained, is involved in a physical altercation, requires emergency medical care, is placed on Close and Continuous Supervision, or in any other situation that is deemed critical by the on-duty supervisor.
- Ensuring that staff is assigned to stay with any student brought to the emergency room until the student is admitted to the hospital or his/her parent/guardian arrives.
- Maintaining the highest level of professional conduct and integrity
- Establishing and maintaining appropriate personal and professional boundaries and awareness in regards to residents, child care workers, families, co-workers, and community resources, etc.
- Consistently modeling appropriate behaviors, emotions, and communication skills, i.e., anger management, conflict resolution, and problem solving skills.
