The Atlantic_ is seeking an associate editor to join the newsroom’s fact-checking team. This associate editor will work with _The Atlantic_’s journalists and editors to ensure the accuracy and fairness of our work. This position will involve fact-checking across our editorial platforms (magazine, web, podcasts, etc.) on a wide range of topics, including politics, culture, science, and technology.- Commitment to accuracy- Rigorous attention to detail- Persistence and resourcefulness in tracking down information/sources- Ability to swiftly identify logical errors or significant omissions in an article- Diplomacy and tact in dealing with a variety of personalities and communicating complex issues- Keen editorial judgment- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, juggling various projects and deadlines- Strong communication and interviewing skills- Ability to work independently- A genuine love of research- A flexible schedule; night and weekend work often required- Able to uphold the highest editorial standards under tight deadlines- Minimum of three years post-college fact-checking experience

This job is based at _The Atlantic’s_ offices in either New York City or Washington, D.C.

Salary Minimum: $65,000; Salary Maximum: $75,000
