Medical Assistant (Weight Loss Program)
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team at our med spa specializing in weight loss treatments. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our healthcare professionals in administering injections of semaglutide, tirzepatide, and vitamin supplements to our weight loss patients. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with patient intake, preparing and administering injections, maintaining accurate patient records, and ensuring the comfort and safety of our patients throughout their treatment journey.
**Responsibilities**:
- Patient Intake and Assessment:
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures.
- Conduct initial patient assessments, including measuring vital signs and documenting medical history.
- Communicate effectively with patients to address any concerns or questions regarding their treatment plan.
- Injection Preparation and Administration:
- Prepare injections according to prescribed dosage and medication guidelines, in collaboration with our Medical Director and Nurse Practitioner.
- Ensure the proper handling and storage of medications in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Administer injections of semaglutide, tirzepatide, and vitamin supplements with precision and care.
- Monitor patients during and after injections for any adverse reactions and provide appropriate assistance as needed.
- **Patient Education and Support**:
- Educate patients on the purpose, benefits, and potential side effects of their prescribed medications.
- Offer empathetic support and encouragement to patients throughout their weight loss journey.
- Recordkeeping and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients, including injection logs and treatment progress notes.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to review patient records and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Clinic Maintenance and Compliance:
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization within the clinic environment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures to minimize risks of cross-contamination.
- Participate in regular training sessions to stay informed about new medications, procedures, and best practices in weight loss management.
**Qualifications**:
- Certification or licensure as a Medical Assistant in Virginia.
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a weight loss clinic or medical spa.
- Proficiency in administering injections and performing basic medical procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
