**Hill International is seeking a Construction Inspector in Valencia, California**
- Inspects each stage of construction up to completion.
- Interprets plans, specifications, and codes and verifies contract work is performed in accordance with all applicable governing codes and regulations.
- Monitors construction sites for safety violations.
- Prepares Non-Conformance Reports when work is not performed to the approved standards.
- Maintains daily activity logs and reports with photographs, in a manner agreed to by LACMTA prior to the work.
- Review or prepare interim progress reports for contractor payments.
- Monitors contractor-testing activities.
- Prepares reports on labor, material, and equipment on site.
- Determines construction conforms to plans and specifications.
- Conducts quality surveillance of specific quality related activities as necessary.
- Assist in maintaining, supporting, and promoting a safe work environment while complying with Caltrans and LACMTA’s safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Provide Construction Safety and Security field services, as directed, including but not limited to Site Safety and Security Reviews including for Construction Equipment, Personnel, Work Procedures and Traffic Control.
- Coordinate preparation of inspection survey reports, cost estimates and maintenance records.
- Timely submittals of these reports and records.
- Arranges, coordinates and oversees technical inspections such as electrical, landscaping, soil testing, concrete, and asphalt mixes, and reinforcing steel for conformance to specification requirements.
- Coordinates test laboratory activities with onsite LACMTA Quality Management team as well as Contractor’s Quality Control team,
- Must be willing to work night shifts and overtime (including weekend work).
- Knowledge and experience with equipment used in roadway construction inspection, surveying, and construction office engineering.
- Substantial experience with inspection of Jointed Plain Concrete Pavement (JPCP) per Caltrans Standard Specification Section 40.
- Critical Path Method (CPM) basic scheduling concepts
- Knowledge and experience with principles of effective communication.
- Knowledge and experience with monitoring labor compliance.
- Knowledge and experience with subcontracting laws and policies.
- Knowledge and experience with the Storm Water Pollution Prevention.
- Program and the General Permit.
- Knowledge of Caltrans Standard Plans, Standard Specifications, and Construction Manual.
- Knowledge and experience in keeping complete, accurate, and concise records of the work and quantities.
- Twelve (12) years of experience which reflect a progressively increasing level of responsibility on complex heavy civil infrastructure as Construction Inspector, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience on Caltrans State Highway System in a capacity commensurate with listed duties.
- Valid California Class C driver’s license.
- Able to obtain Cal-OSHA/OSHA 30-hour training certification. B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred

The salary range for this position is $162,000-$172,000. The offered salary will be based on the applicants qualifications, education, experience and work location.
