**Duties**:
Duties include but not limited to; The RN will participate in medication clinics providing assessment and/or administration of prescribed medications while providing medication management, co-leading group therapy sessions, providing supportive counseling, and providing psychoeducation. The RN will participate in medication clinics providing assessment and/or administration of prescribed medications while providing medication education to veterans and significant others. The Staff Nurse I (one) demonstrates a sustained high level of clinical practice and leadership in improving patient care; and excellent interpersonal relationship skills in interpreting and communicating service and hospital goals, objectives, policies, and procedures to staff, patients, and the interdisciplinary health care team. The incumbent is also accountable for specific nursing duties such as medications, vital signs, clinical reminders, and participation in groups as assigned. Also:

- Providing Recovery-Oriented, Veteran-centered care to a large caseload of complex mentally ill veterans on a specific multidisciplinary BHIP team, within the scope of his/her practice. Providing excellent Veteran Centered care will require great flexibility in managing many competing demands with shifting priorities while providing outreach. nursing assessment, planning and team collaboration and intervention. Monitoring outcomes will be an essential component of this process.
- Providing strong liaison services between the veteran and other members of the BHIP team and as a liaison between the veteran and other medical, pharmaceutical or community services. Strong communication across Mental Health Services programs and with the SPC is another strong component of this role.
- Providing crisis intervention services which include a nursing assessment of needs and safety concerns and then linking the veteran as needed to the proper services for appropriate intervention to ensure safety.
- Providing comprehensive health triage both on the phone and face to face as indicated with goal of meeting the needs of the vet in a timely manner.
- Providing timely telephone outreach to veterans to address identified needs within the MH Services and/or to facilitate the veteran in accessing services.
- Providing communication and collaboration with families and /or other concerned individuals as appropriate (given confidentiality concerns) to support the Veterans Recovery goals.
- Providing essential medication management support services to prescribers and veterans including within designated medication management clinics to provide injections, pillbox services, and nursing support to clozapine clinic, stimulant clinic and a variety of mini medication clinics as assigned within the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic.
- Providing health education, and nursing intervention as needed and as defined by the **RN **Scope of Practice in the management of medication and other health issues.
- Providing support in providing educational experiences for undergraduate nursing students within the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic.
- Participating in the development and implementation of processes to gather data to measure outcomes of the case management component of the BHIP model.
