Specific Responsibilities
The Geologist Advisor-Petroleum Systems Integration, for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Geology team at the company's Houston office reporting to the Geology Director.

**This role will be primarily responsible for the following**:

- Work with the asset teams to mature Apache’s current exploration licenses in Suriname, Alaska, and Uruguay.
- Provide support to Apache’s New Ventures and Egypt Exploration programs as needed.
- Interface with the Exploration Subsurface Assurance process to ensure consistency in the subsurface evaluations that inform characterization of opportunity volume, risk, and value inputs.
- Contribute technical leadership in petroleum systems analysis for the corporation.
- Experience as a key integrator on technical/project teams, interacting closely across disciplines and mentoring junior staff. Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Geology or related discipline.
- At least 10 years of petroleum exploration experience.
- Basin Modeling:

- Expert ability in 1D and map-based basin modeling using Zetaware suite (Trinity & Genesis).
- Experience with advanced approaches such as 3D and structure-balanced basin modeling.
- Qualitative and quantitative analysis of migration pathways at both the prospect and play scale.
- Strong ability to select appropriate basin modeling techniques on a fit-for-purpose basis and tailor work plans to tight timelines.
- Geochemistry:

- Source rock characterization from geochemical data, and integration with tectonic and depositional environment interpretations.
- Perform oil: oil and oil: source correlations based on common geochemical parameters such as bulk properties and biomarkers.
- Work with the company geochemical expert to provide recommendations on sample collection and analysis programs for exploration and appraisal wells.
- Prospect Maturation:

- Deliver insights and predictions to inform prospect risking of charge, seal, and reservoir quality.
- Understanding of uncertainty analysis and how to use it to prioritize technical project work.
- Integrate with reservoir engineers on fluid property prediction.
- Understanding of prospect volumetrics and GeoX/RoseRA helpful.
- Familiarity with numerical reservoir quality modeling (Touchstone and similar approaches) is beneficial.
- Regional Integration:

- Demonstrated ability to derive petroleum systems insights from high-level basin information.
- Strong understanding of basin types, their crustal structure, and the implications for heat flow modeling.
- Experience in play analysis and risking is required; understanding of split-risk approach is desirable.
- Business Acumen:

- Proven experience in risk/reward analysis and the ability to think strategically.
- Ability to present results clearly and concisely to all levels of management.
- Ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate expectations and deliverables to relevant team members.
