**SUMMARY**:
The ELD Academic Coach provides guidance and support to staff in the continuous improvement of teaching and learning for English Learners (ELs). The ELD Academic Coach will support teachers in delivering instruction to students who are learning English in targeted and integrated English Language Development (ELD) instruction in alignment with the four principles of Arizona’s Language Development Approach. This position will provide professional development, classroom support, and coaching to teachers to help them meet the unique needs of English learners.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
- Works collaboratively with teachers to identify and address the academic needs of EL students.
- Develops and implements professional development opportunities for teachers to enhance their instructional practices in working with EL students.
- Provides classroom support to teachers by modeling effective instructional strategies and providing feedback.
- Analyzes data to guide teachers to develop and implement targeted interventions that support both content learning and academic language development.
- Works collaboratively with content specialists and teachers in analyzing assessment data to evaluate language and content instructional effectiveness and inform future language and academic program decisions.
- Collaborates with school staff on how to build and maintain relationships with EL students and families to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborates with District and school leaders to align instructional practices and resources to ensure success and support the academic achievement of EL students.
- Provides targeted/meaningful support to staff to improve achievement in the areas of English Language Development.
- Assists targeted ELD teachers with required accommodations for EL students in the Sheltered English Immersion Program.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines**:

- Three (3) years of experience teaching targeted ELD, preferably at the high school level, and with the most recent year in PXU.

**License and Certification Requirements**:

- Secondary Certification with English as an approved area.
- Complete ESL or bilingual endorsement, if not already certified
- Possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License.

- Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.
