Description:
The PM Nurse Supervisor at Pine Haven Christian Home supervises the day-to-day activities performed by CNAs/RAs and provides direct nursing care to/monitors the overall well-being of residents at our Haven Drive campus.

Essential duties and responsibilities
- Lead and direct the day-to-day functions of floor staff on the unit in accordance with current laws, rules, and regulations governing our facilities. Ensure that all nursing personnel comply with Pine Haven’s written policies and procedures.
- Ensure that sufficient staffing is maintained to provide quality care that meets the daily needs of residents. Develop work assignments and monitor staff absenteeism, reporting issues to unit Manager.
- Participate in developing, updating, and maintaining policies and procedures that govern the functions of the unit. Ensure that reference materials are accurate and current. Participate in the development of nursing service training curriculum used by the facility.
- Provide report/recommendation to the unit Manager and Director of Resident Services as needed concerning the operation of nursing services within the department.
- Participate in shift report and maintain open lines of communication with the unit Manager, co-workers, and on-coming shift.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
- Participate in the development of resident care plans in coordinating nursing services with the interdisciplinary team, and review care plans for appropriate goals, problems, approaches, and revisions.
- Make shift rounds to observe the physical and psychosocial status of residents and staff compliance with care requirements.
- Provide direct nursing care as necessary, and administer prescribed medications and treatments per MD orders. Maintain competence in all required skills within the facility.
- Perform administrative duties such as charting and completing medical forms, reports, assessments and evaluations as necessary and in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all nursing personnel are knowledgeable of residents’ rights and responsibilities. Review complaints and grievances and make report to the unit Manager or Director of Resident Services, indicating action taken to resolve, following established procedures.
- Interpret department policies and procedures to staff, residents, families/visitors, and agencies as required.
- Attend team meetings as scheduled.
- Ensure that residents are treated with respect and dignity, and perform nursing duties with the comfort and wellbeing of each resident in mind.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
- Participate in weekend on-call rotation with Assisted Living Managers and other administrative clinical staff members.
- Immediately report any suspected abuse or neglect per facility policy.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
- Follow infection control and universal precautions policies and procedures to ensure that a sanitary environment is always maintained
- Attend and participate in required training, conducted at time of hire and/or annually, that will include training designed to assure resident safety: i.e. fire safety, missing resident, evacuations, disaster response, etc.
- Report any observed changes in a resident’s needs and/or condition immediately and as appropriate.

**Requirements**:

- Nursing degree from an accredited college or university, or graduate of an approved LPN or RN program.
- An unencumbered, active license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin.
- Minimum three years’ experience as a staff nurse in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility. Supervisory experience preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership/supervisory skill and willingness to work harmoniously with others. Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.
