**CLASSIFIED SALARY SCHEDULE: RANGE 7**

**Basic Function**:
Under supervision of the school principal, perform a wide variety of clerical work and perform a variety of functions pertaining to student health. Warmly greet and assist students and adults as they enter the school office or on the phone. Under supervision of the food service supervisor, collect money for food service meals, count money received and prepare bank deposit materials, organize and maintain a variety of records and files pertaining to the food service operation, and do other related work as required.

**Representative Duties**:
Maintains student attendance records in a student database and attendance tracking for SARB.
General clerical duties including filing, duplicating and responding to questions from students, staff and parents.
Maintains immunization records.
Assists with the preparation of a variety of examinations pertaining to the health appraisal of students, including physical, vision, hearing and dental examinations.
Records health appraisal history and the results of health appraisal examinations.
Assists in preparing and distributing reports concerning the findings of health appraisals and in health appraisal follow-up activities.
Renders first aid treatment to injured and ill students; disinfects and bandages minor cuts, abrasions and burns.
Documents all visits to the health office and interactions related to student health in a timely fashion.
Observes pupils for signs of shock and other emergency situations, and takes appropriate remedial action following established procedures.
Performs routine evaluation of student illness and injury situations, and determines the need for emergency supervisory or administrative assistance based on established first aid and triage procedures under the supervision of the Certificated District Nurse.
Gives medication prescribed specifically for students by medical authority, following established protocols and procedures.
Contacts parents or other responsible persons regarding ill or injured students.
Understands and utilizes universal precautions.
Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the health office.
Participates in district health office meetings and participates in pertinent professional development activities.
Participate in school and district-wide disaster drills and safety training.
Performs a variety of food service cashier functions, including cash collection, and expediting the movement of the student lines.
Organizes, develops and maintains records as to student participation and simple sales records using mealtime software.
Counts monies and prepares bank deposit slips, as necessary
Files student lunch records by classroom assignment and the daily worksheets and other food service operational materials.
Operates equipment to manage food sales.
Performs other duties as assigned.

**Knowledge of**:
Computer skills, ability to type efficiently and operate standard office machines.
Principles, methods and practices of first aid and routine emergency treatment.
Standard policies and procedures pertaining to student health services.
Equipment, supplies and terminology commonly associated with a student health facility.
Basic methods of money handling and standard food service record management procedures.
Arithmetical calculation processes and simple record keeping procedures.

**Ability to**:
Establish and maintain a variety of files and records.
Demonstrate strong clerical and excellent telephone manners.
Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Operate a computer and access and maintain information electronically.
Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships.
Maintain accurate records.
Communicate effectively in oral and written form.
Evaluate student illness or emergency situations and determine an appropriate course of action.
Perform routine first aid and emergency treatment for ill and injured students.
Perform basic methods of money handling and standard food service record management procedures.
Arithmetical calculation processes and simple record keeping procedures.

**Education and Experience**:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, including or supplemented by course work in computer use, record management and general office practices.

**Other Requirements**:

- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (must maintain)
- Trainings as required by the State of California
- Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License

**Working Environment**:
