The Town of Auburn, NH is seeking its first Highway Department Director. The Director is responsible for the town’s road, bridge, and drainage assets - supervising all maintenance, storm response, and operations. This is a hands-on, salaried, management position. The Town of Auburn has historically relied upon an elected Road Agent and local contractors to perform all highway work, and is starting to bring some work “in-house” with the hiring of 1-2 employees.

The Director will work independently to perform maintenance and plowing work, hire and direct contractors and vendors, supervise the small number of employees, and manage department budgeting and planning in conjunction with town officials. Storm and emergency response requires proximity to Auburn and on-call availability.
- Experience supervising employees and/or contractors;
- A variety of technical skills related to road maintenance;
- Experience with snow removal operations.

This is a full-time, salaried position with a competitive municipal benefits package including a quality health and dental insurance program, and participation in the NH Retirement System. Salary range $75-$85k, depending on qualifications and experience.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
