Under general supervision transports children to and from school and school activities ensuring safety of passengers at all times. Performs pre and post trip inspections and maintains accurate record of mileage, inspections and general routine maintenance of buses. Assists teaching staff with care and supervision of children between bus routes as needed.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
Must possess a Arizona Commercial Driver's License with School Bus Endorsement. High School diploma or GED equivalent. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must posses or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification within the 90-day introductory period. Must complete and pass an extensive background check. Must successfully complete a background check.

**Examples of Duties**:

- Drives a 77-passenger school bus.
- Drives a 15-passenger activity bus or other assigned Community vehicle to transport students and other passengers to a variety of destinations in and around the Ak-Chin Indian Community. Monitors safety of passengers before and during transportation, including safety belt use, child safety seats and smoking prohibitions, etc.
- Keeps a record of vehicle use, including mileage, daily inspection reports and routine maintenance. This will including ensuring vehicles are clean inside and out, fueled and ready for use, inspecting vehicles as required to keep them in safe operating condition Notifies supervisor of needed repairs immediately.
- Assists Preschool Teachers and Teacher's Aides with in-classroom learning activities when not transporting children as assigned by the Early Childhood Program Manager.
- Promotes playground safety and developmentally appropriate outdoor play, and assist with the supervision of children on field trips when not engaged in transporting children, as assigned by the Early Childhood Program Manager.
- Observes strict confidentiality guidelines regarding children and families.
- Reports suspected abuse, neglect or maltreatment and other social service related incidents to the Early Childhood Program Manager.
- Attends and participates in all scheduled staff meetings, workshops, and in-service trainings such as CPR, First Aid and Food Handlers classes.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned to maintain and enhance program and departmental operations.

**Other Requirements**:
Knowledge of the addresses and locations of students in and around the Ak-Chin Indian Community.
Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations covering the safe operation of school buses and of a commercial transportation vehicle in Arizona.
Knowledge of municipal and state ordinances and laws concerning operations of a motor vehicle.
Knowledge of vehicle maintenance requirements.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, other staff, and with the public.
Skill in following oral and written instructions, policies, and procedures.
Skill in safely operating a motor vehicle.
Ability to perform routine maintenance on vehicles and to identify repairs needed.
