Construction Supervisor

Job Summary

Essential Functions
- Identifies and understands issues, problems, and opportunities; compares data from various sources to draw conclusions; uses effective approaches for choosing course of action or developing appropriate solutions; takes action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences for the implementation and execution of best practices and problem solving in the building of commercial real estate for a Utility company.
- Leads coordination of onsite contractor activity and internal NiSource project stakeholders, including demolition, utilities, site work, temporary installation and power, vertical construction, exterior and interior renovations and finish work, and coordination with various departments within NiSource.
- Oversees and successfully executes project cost analysis, project financial/budget, construction schedules along with forecasting and analyzing issues arising during the planning, design, and construction process.
- Takes action to identify, analyze and improve existing processes within our organization to maximize opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness and meet new goals and objectives.
- Assists in creation and maintenance or standardized forms, presentations, and templates for reporting purposes of project information.
- Generates and responds to RFPs related to construction activity.
- Coordinates work orders, purchase orders as directed.
- Reviews, processes, and approves invoices for construction.
- Oversees and monitors contractor safety protocol to ensure compliance with NiSource safety standards.
- Facilitates effective communications between real estate, building services and others in organization.
- Interacts with public officials and external customers, in addition to multiple functions and levels of company management such as, environmental, communications, company presidents and general managers, engineering, accounting, and legal.
- Leads, coaches and trains construction project managers on Real Estate construction policy and procedures.
- Assists with office design and furniture installation and move coordination to withhold Real State space allocation standards.
- Manages closeout and completion of projects, including final resolution of all punch list work, change orders, lien releases, operations and maintenance/warranty documentation, and process disbursement of retained dollars.
- Leads diverse team of qualified individuals with authority to hire, terminate, promote, demote, coach, develop and performance manage
- Required Qualifications For Position
- Bachelor's Degree in construction management
- 15+ years' experience in real estate building construction management
- Prior construction management experience for building projects up to $100M
- Experience reading blueprints and drawings
- Experience coordinating work and purchase orders
- Understanding of commercial real estate building construction means, methods and best practices
- Knowledge of construction contracts and AIA forms and processes
- Knowledge of construction office planning for commercial real estate
- Understanding safety regulations and building codes
- Oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Organizational skill
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam Revu software proficiency High
- Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- Experience in facilities management
- 3+ years' experience in commercial real estate and/or providing land services for a gas and electric utility.
