**Program Summary**

The Vocational ESL Program assists students in learning English as they look for and obtain employment in Philadelphia. This program helps clients in two workforce programs housed at NSC: ERP and MG. The Employment Readiness and Placement Program (ERP) is a state-funded, employment program designed to assist refugees, asylees and eligible immigrants who have been in the United States for less than 5 years. The goal of the program is to assist clients in addressing barriers to employment and achieving self-sufficiency. Matching Grant is a federally funded program that assists newly arrived refugees in their first year of arrival in the United States.

**Position Summary**

The Vocational English Coordinator will be responsible for connecting clients to meaningful English language instruction through multiple internal and external programs. The position will coordinate, work with and support other ESL staff including the Vocational ESL liaison, volunteer teachers, interns and long-term volunteers. The classes are held in both our Center City office at 1216 Arch Street as well as our Northeast HUB at 6434 Castor Avenue.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Responsible for the recruitment, screening, training and classroom coordination of volunteer teachers and staff in two locations and online
- Enhance ESL curriculum drawing upon local and national resources; develop teacher resources and professional development opportunities
- Provide and manage English learning materials for ERP- from pre-lit levels and above
- Placement and progress testing
- Coordinate with NSC staff to enforce mandatory compliance in the workforce programs
- Manage budgets and expenses
- Write and manage grants and reporting
- Develop and maintain external ESL partnerships across Philadelphia
- Participate in program design and evaluation; Contribute to program expansion including new and innovative service delivery methods
- Oversee and supervise administrative interns, volunteers and staff in order to meet programmatic ESL needs and documentation standards for NSC’s Employment programs
- Coordinate with NSC case management staff to identify and remove any barriers preventing continued English Learning for Employment clients
- Perform other duties as assigned by Program Manager

**Required Skills and Experiences**

A. 1-2 years' experience teaching. ESL experienced strongly preferred. 1-2 years' experience in coordinating, administering and/or supervising a program.

B. 4 year degree from an accredited college or university or +2 years of related experience.

C. Bilingual applicants preferred but not required.

D. Strong ability to adapt to the use of computer programming and digital learning platforms

E Demonstrates ability to manage multiple tasks by carefully setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and scheduling time efficiently.

F. Ability to develop and adapt curriculum to meet the needs of students academic levels

G. Ability to organize tasks in an efficient manner and follow-up with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

H. Demonstrates ability to work with other people through a cooperative effort.

I. Possesses strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups.

J. Adheres to all NSC policies and procedures.
