Student Assistance Program (SAP) Coordinator

In collaboration with the SAP Lead and Clinical Team, the SAP Coordinator provides support and education to students, parents, and school staff about the risks associated with substance use and addiction. Specifically, this role provides direct client care for students identified as struggling with substance use and related co-occurring disorders. The SAP Coordinator primarily works within the McHenry County High Schools to screen, intervene, and refer students to appropriate services.

**JOB REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES**:

- Strong ability to build relationships with students, administrators, and families.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.

**DUTIES INCLUDE**:

- Managing referrals and coordinating with school district staff
- Screening students and collaborating with stakeholders to make treatment recommendations
- Providing education and follow up support to students to inspire healthy lifestyle changes
- Educating students, guardians, and staff on the harm of substance use/addiction
- Serving as a liaison between community outreach programs, treatment agencies and students and their guardians

**JOB QUALIFICATIONS**:

- High School Diploma required
- Associates degree or higher preferred
- Education or training related to substance use counseling, recovery support or coaching preferred
- Knowledge of substance use disorders and treatment services
- Must hold Valid Drivers license and have reliable transportation
- 1 year experience in a behavioral health treatment facility - preferred
- Ability to operate and uphold standards for security, ethics, confidentiality, rules of conduct and professionalism
- Ability to support and uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of Northern Illinois Recovery.
- Ability to pass background screening and check of the Illinois Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System (CANTS)

Pay: $50,000.00 per year
