Accounting Supervisor - Courts
**Hourly Salary Range**: $31.06 - $46.59
**Responsibilities**: Under the general direction of the Assistant Chief Deputy Clerk of Circuit Court, Criminal Division, to plan, organize, direct and control all accounting and fiscal management activities, manage large funds and high volume of transactions and train and evaluate fiscal staff.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Plan, manage/establish, organize, direct and control all accounting functions; advise upper management in fiscal matters and financial reporting; review balance sheets, cash journals; coordinate court's debt collection function; monitoring contracts
- Prepare periodic fiscal reports which may include county, state, federal, internal and private grants; prepare ad hoc reports for use by other entities such as internal/external auditors and legislative or other governing bodies; prepare special reports for Fiscal Manager
- Provide leadership via supervision to accounting/fiscal staff; train and evaluate fiscal and accounting staff; ensure compliance with procedures, county ordinances and state statutes
- Other duties as assigned
- Regular attendance require.
**Minimum Education & Qualifications**:
- Current resident of the State of Wisconsin
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with three (3) years of accounting experience, preferably within a government setting.
- One year of supervisory experience working with fiscal and/or accounting staff.
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures) required.
**Required Skills and Abilities**:
- Frequent internal and external communication; building strong working relationships internally and externally.
- Read, write and comprehend routine reports, procedures and/or government regulations; speak effectively before both internal and external groups.
- Complex work generally governed by broad instructions, standard policies, procedures and objectives usually involving frequent changes; decisions require considerable judgment, initiative and ingenuity in areas there is little precedent.
**Working Conditions**:
- Physical Demands: Sitting, Reaching, Bending/Kneeling, Hearing, Talking, Visual, Typing, Fine Dexterity, Manual Dexterity, Upper Extremity Repetitive Motion, Lifting/Carrying twenty-five (25) pounds and Pushing/Pulling twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Non-Physical Demands: Analysis/Reasoning, Communication/Interpretation, Math/Mental Computation, Reading and Writing.
- Other Demands/Deadlines: Occasional stress due to deadlines, workload, and occasional exposure to distressed individuals within the immediate work environment.
