We are seeking an **Athletic Director** who is passionate about outstanding achievement. The school is committed to excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts, and believes that leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship and athletic engagement are essential to the transformation of the hearts and minds of the next generation of leaders. Almost 75% of our students participate in athletics, and this engagement facilitates belonging, spirit, and hope. The Athletic Director should be an ardent advocate for athletics and be ready to build upon and enhance a strong existing program. We are seeking a relational leader to oversee the operation of all of the school’s athletic programs. The Director of Athletics is responsible for ensuring that high standards of sportsmanship, participation, and excellence are maintained in those programs sponsored by the school, and that coaches, students, family and community members are empowered to be partners in the formation and success of our student athletes. The Athletic Director reports to the Principal and is a critical member of the school’s Leadership Team.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop a long term strategic plan for the athletic program that is aligned with the mission, Holy Cross values and Board-approved strategic plan and organizational goals of the school.
- Provide for overall leadership and coordination of the athletic program, ensuring that the program and all who participate embody the mission and Mariner mindset of our school.
- In partnership with the school Leadership and the Athletic Office staff, coordinate all activities of the athletic program.
- Supervise, support and evaluate the staff in the Athletic Office including the Associate Athletic Director and Trainer.
- Recruit coaches for all sports, coordinate orientations and onboarding, and manage contract execution and performance in partnership with the HR Manager of the school.
- Oversee the coaching certifications for all members of the staff and provide yearly opportunities for growth.
- Ensure that all coaches and all members of the Athletic Office are currently certified to do First Aid/ CPR.
- Supervises and evaluates coaches and other personnel involved in the athletic program.
- Partner with the Principal to secure competent teacher-coaches when possible.
- Provide coordination of the girlsí and boysí athletic activities with other activities and programs of the school.
- Emphasize the importance and priority of academic success with student athletes, and ensure that student athletes embrace the Mariner mindset.
- Oversee and approve the eligibility of all student-athletes including physical examinations, academic eligibility and the special eligibility requirements of transfer students.
- Coordinate and oversee the Student Athlete Council.
- Partner with the Principal, school counselors, coaches and student athletes to support the success of student athletes who will play college sports.
- Ensure that all practices and contests are conducted with concern for the safety of student-athletes and spectators.
- Coordinate coaches, student-athlete and parent meetings on an annual basis.
- Support end of season awards programs and celebration of seniors.
- Oversee and prepare the budget of the school’s athletic program.
- Supervise and approve all expenditures within the approved annual budget, and prepare future forecasting of athletic expenses to the Principal.
- Supervise the inventory and management of athletic equipment including cleaning and repair.
- Partner with the Director of External Relations to support fundraising, alumni participation, donor engagement and communication within the school and larger community.

- Prior experience with athletic administration, physical education, coaching, and/or sports is preferred.
- Strong relationship skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, develop, empathize, and effectively communicate with a diverse group of students, parents/ guardians, coaches, faculty, staff and other community members.
- Clear health and background check.
- Flexible availability for evenings and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel between schools and drive a van as needed.
