Pharmacy Technician/coordinator, Quality Assurance

**Job Opening Summary**:
Responsible for compiling and evaluating data as it relates to quality control measures instituted by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations through their National Patient Safety Goals and through the Institute for Safe Medication Practices, DSCSA laws and the State Board of Pharmacy. Responsible for ensuring compliance with REMS and other outpatient medication programs regulated by the government and other regulatory bodies. Will coordinate payment of invoices for all outpatient pharmacies and the Cancer Center pharmacy and reconcile credits for outpatient accounts. Will serve as a QS1 super user and will help technician leads use QS1 to manage the inventory at each location. These and other duties as assigned are associated with providing comprehensive pharmaceutical services to outpatients of UF Health Shands Hospital. Competencies required for Pharmacy Technician - Quality Assurance and Compliance Coordinator must be completed and successfully assessed within 6 months of start date and at annual evaluation thereafter.

**Job Opening Qualifications***:Minimum Education and Experience Requirements**:
Education, Experience and Training:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.

2. One of the following requirements must be met for minimum training or minimum experience in lieu of training:
a. 6 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician, Level 1 experience and completion of all required competencies.

b. Completion of Shands Hospital Technician Training Program.

c. Current enrollment in the Shands Hospital Pharmacy Technician Training Program with the consent of the program director.

d. Completion of military hospital core school and/or completion of field service school.

e. Completion of an ASHP-accredited pharmacy technician training program.

f. Completion of a college-based pharmacy technician training program.

g. One year of hospital pharmacy technician experience.

h. One year of retail pharmacy technician experience.

I. One year of pharmaceutical inventory function experience, including proper ordering from approved vendors to ensure adequate inventory based upon demand, as well as maintenance of a pharmacy inventory.

j. One year (24 credit hours) of science-based, college-level study, which must include successful completion of algebra.

k. One year of experience transcribing/interpreting physician orders plus 12 credit hours of science-based, college-level study, which must include successful completion of algebra.

Job Knowledge:
1. Must know how to operate typewriter, calculator, and computer workstation.

**Licensure/Certification/Registration**:
1. All pharmacy technicians must be registered with the Florida Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician or licensed Pharmacist Intern prior to their first day of employment.

2. Must present proof of current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) status upon employment or obtain national pharmacy technician certification within the first 90 days.

3. Must present proof of successful completion of Pharmacy Regulatory Specialist (PRS) certificate upon employment or within the first 90 days.

4. Must present proof of successful completion of 340b University certificate upon employment or within the first 90 days.

**Additional Requirement**:
As a condition of employment within the Pharmacy Services Department of Shands Hospital, all employees must be accessible by telephone. This requires each employee to provide a valid telephone number to the department staff assistant in order for the department to reach them in the event of hospital need and/or emergency.
