The Elementary Head of Student Wellbeing works to support students in an elementary building in a variety of ways. This person will foster a positive school climate and culture by leading MTSS-B efforts across the tiers. This may include student supervision, day-to-day building management and support of all building staff, particularly when it comes to meeting the social-emotional and wellbeing needs of every student.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support student needs, especially behavior and social-emotional in a wide variety of manner.
- Assist with supporting and monitoring behavior of students, including before and after school, recess, and other activities.
- Support the work of the district Student Wellbeing goal, support the systems of behavior and lead the building MTSS-B (behavior) team and coordinate teams for both Tier 1 and 2.
- Serve on the District MTSS-B Team and attend regular meetings as a professional learning community.
- Manage behavior and discipline reporting, including SWIS, and analyze data for MTSS-B teams.
- Joining building SST meetings when behavior is a concern, as requested.
- Assist the school principal in the resolution of discipline problems (including restorative practices) in a fair and just manner and maintain records of any action taken.
- Communicate with staff and parents regarding student issues and concerns.
- Coach and support teachers on trauma informed practices and effective classroom management strategies, but no formal teacher evaluations.
- Participate in threat assessments and the blue envelope process, with training provided.
- Collaborate with and work in conjunction with other behavioral support across the district.
- Other duties as assigned by the building principal, such as supporting 504’s, fundraisers and planning outside school events with principal and parent organization, and providing feedback and/or evaluating support staff.

**Qualifications**:

- Certified to teach elementary age students in the state of Michigan.
- Five years of successful teaching experience is preferred, particularly with a demonstrated ability to work with students of all different backgrounds and ability levels as well as an ability to successfully manage challenging behaviors.
- Knowledge and/or willingness to be trained around restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, CPI, and the needs of unique learners.
- Demonstrate leadership, team building skills and the ability to work with others.
- Have the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and work independently.
- Administrative degree or the desire to move into administration is preferred, but not required.

**Compensation**:
School year plus 10 days at per diem rate.
