Grounds Maintenance Worker

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Silo Ridge Field club, set in Amenia, New York.

Silo Ridge is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to join the Golf Maintenance - Agronomy Department. This position will offer H2B visa sponsorship for March 15th, 2024 - November 15th, 2024.

In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities
- Mow, edge, and fertilize grasses
- General landscaping tasks such as mulching, weeding, planting of ornamentals, trimming hedges, shrubs, and small trees
- Plant flowers, trees, shurbs, and other plants
- Wateringing of lawns, landscapes, and gardens
- Assist with irrigation repair and drainage installation.
- Participate in department set-up activities such as changing of hole locations and tee markers.
- Ensure all end of day tasks/closing procedures are completed and comply with the departments SOP.
- Report any safety or maintenance issues immediately to the Department Manager
- Attend department meetings and trainings as necessary.
- Any other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Ability to operate golf course machinery such as push rotary mowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, utility vehicles, and riding mowers.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions in English.
- Prior experience in landscaping, preferably within a residential or hospitality environment.
- Ability to operate landscape machinery such as push rotary mowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, utility vehicles, and riding mowers.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles properly and safely.
- Plant knowledge/Horticultural Practices knowledge a plus.

- Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
