**Able Seaman Deck (Launch & Retrieval)**

**Position Overview**
- The Able Seaman Deck is a member of a navigational watch on the launch and retrieval vessel supporting manned space flight using spaceship Neptune and its twenty million cubic foot space balloon. This position performs a myriad of skilled tasks at the support level as a member of the deck department.

**Role and Responsibilities**:

- Perform assigned deck duties including line handling, boating operations, crane and A-frame operations, davit and lifeboat operations, working in enclosed spaces, at heights and over the side.
- Respond to shipboard emergencies including fire, flood, toxic gas, man overboard and abandon ship, be able to administer first aid and CPR.
- Exhibit superior workmanship in the maintenance of deck machinery and spaces.
- Display acute safety consciousness in every assigned task.
- Enforce security measures.
- Maintain the vessel in a consistently high condition of readiness and preservation.
- Exemplify excellence and accountability for all work.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Basic Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
- Minimum 18 months of experience with deck service on oceans.
