We are set apart by our intensive focus on college persistence, ensuring that our mainly minority and low-income students gain not only admission to college but also the skills to flourish in and graduate from college in four years. To help these scholars in the college process, we need a results-driven team memberto join our College Access & Persistence team. This individual will play an integral role in the school, working closely with faculty, scholars, and parents on a daily basis. This position reports to the Associate Director of College Access & Persistence.

**CAP Counselor responsibilities vary based on the college admissions cycle. Over time, you will**:

- Develop curated college lists with scholars, based on their academics, persistence skills, and family's financial background;
- Write high-quality letters of recommendation (LOR), and support faculty to develop equally strong LORs;
- Build strong working relationships with college admissions officers;
- Coach scholars to develop their persistence skills: time management, self-advocacy, gratitude, as they navigate the admissions and financial aid processes; and
- Lead scholar and parent workshops, with support with faculty and school leaders, to share knowledge on the college admissions and financial aid processes.
- Have a Bachelor’s degree;
- Achieved outstanding academic results;
- Are passionate about college access and graduation for low-income scholars, first-generation scholars, and scholars from ethnically underrepresented groups in higher education;
- Are highly aligned to the Success Academy vision of joyful rigor in our academic community;
- Possess impeccable written and verbal communication skills, including strong public speaking skills;
- Are able to form strong relationships with a wide range of constituents, including, but not limited to: scholars, families, staff, leadership, and college admissions officers;
- Seek to work at a fast-paced, highly collaborative, compassionate, start-up organization, where entrepreneurialism, innovation, feedback, and disrupting the status quo for the benefit of children are valorized;
- Are a highly driven learner who can bring an innovative mindset to work on complex projects that tackle college persistence challenges across the K-12 school model;
- Are comfortable with implementing effective classroom management techniques to support teaching peers as needed;
- Have a deep understanding of the evolving college admissions landscape, with an emphasis on the highly selective institutions and programs that meet full financial need (preferred);
- Are intimately familiar with the student experience of being first-generation, low-income, and/or an underrepresented minority on a college campus (preferred).
