Scale House Operator

Overview:
The scale house operator will use a computerized scale and/or manual scale tickets to efficiently and effectively weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles, railcars, and movement of product between areas within the commodity yard. This position is also responsible for accurately recording this data to ensure appropriate billing and inventory controls.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Use a computer to record the weights of incoming and outgoing vehicles and railcars
- Log information into a centralized database and/or spreadsheets
- Provide direction to proper location of all trucks loading/unloading within the plant compound
- Document properly all loading and unloading activities in the plant
- Schedule freight pickups and deliveries with contracted haulers as necessary
- Double check documents for accounting and verify for accuracy
- Assist to complete loading/unloading activities, including operation of heavy equipment and hazardous materials loading equipment as necessary
- Interact positively and professionally with customers, drivers, dispatchers, and coworkers to answer questions and solve simple problems
- Maintain productive work practices and a safe, organized working environment

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Moderate computer proficiency
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality
- Strong work ethic, ability to learn quickly and adapt to change
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills

This is a full-time position. Typical work schedule is Monday thru Friday with early morning start times, but will require overtime and/or weekends occasionally.

Potential hire will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
