Art Sales Associate

Jawbone is Cape May’s new contemporary art gallery, in the heart of the historic downtown. Our diverse collection ranges from original works on canvas to sculpture, mixed-media, and photography. We specialize in representing and promoting innovative emerging and established artists from around the world.
About You:
Working with a collaborative and energetic team you will be responsible for assisting with client relations, art sales, maintaining artist relations, and executing solo and group exhibitions and special events alongside the Gallery Director.
You are able to discuss the gallery’s artists artwork, background, and inspiration with prospective art buyers and attend to service needs with existing clients in a friendly and outgoing manner. You are able to handle and move artwork with attention and care, and you are able to oversee the inventory of art images and artwork. You are able to think on your feet and are incredibly resourceful. “Organization” may be your middle name and you can take direction and feel comfortable with priorities changing on the fly. You have a keen eye for detail not only when it comes to making sure a piece of art is level, but also when putting together a press release.
You may be proficient at working on a Mac platform and Photoshop. Having knowledge of InDesign is a bonus for marketing assignments. You may have experience with social media including Instagram and Facebook and could be savvy at online communications. You could have a post-secondary degree in Art History, Interior Design, Marketing or Liberal Arts. Previous experience working in an office setting is a bonus.
**Qualifications**:
- Prior experience in sales (ideally art and luxury)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge and passion for contemporary art
- Familiarity with art selling techniques
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
- Proficiency in Wix, Canva, Adobe Creative
- Experience with social media platforms -- Instagram, FB, Artsy
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
- Detail-oriented and EXTREMELY organized
- Proven experience writing about art and design. Samples may be requested.
- Sophisticated, charismatic, and extremely savvy with people and sales
**Responsibilities**:
- This is a full-time on-site role as an Art Gallery Sales & Marketing Associate, supporting the owner and director of the Gallery
- As an Art Gallery Sales & Marketing Associate, you will be responsible for SELLING art successfully on the gallery floor, recruiting new clients and maintaining a database, managing events, managing website and select online platforms as needed, coordinating shipping and sales operations
- Responsible for maintaining the gallery's clean and organized appearance
- Maintaining and meeting (ideally exceeding) monthly sales goals
**Benefits**:
- PAY: Hourly plus a great commission
- Expected hours: Maximum 40 per week, Full Time High Season /Part-time Off-Season
