JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operation of animal care technician duties. Including but not limited to cleaning and maintenance of kennels and shelter, providing animal care and socialization, assist and interact with the public in adoption and program services, and maintains privacy and confidentiality of animal and agency information. Ability to work with mínimal supervision, in a team, and can problem solve issues professionally keeping in mind animal health and safety along with exceptional customer service are the top priority.

Must be able to work 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, weekends, and holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Clean, disinfect and maintain kennels, cages, and runs daily and as often as is necessary to ensure no cages or kennels are soiled and odors are not apparent. Perform general cleaning and disinfecting in all areas of the shelter to control the spread of disease.
- Facilitate animal socializing, exercise, and enrichment.
- Bathing and general care of cats and dogs.
- Dependable with the ability to work well in a team as well as working independently with efficiency.
- Be knowledgeable about Winnie Berry Humane Society of Angelina County (WBHSAC) animals and provide accurate animal information when being asked about the animals.
- Ability to manage time well and complete daily duties and assigned tasks within specified timeframe.
- Adhere to all WBHSAC policies and procedures, best practices, city, state, and federal laws.
- Consistently provide excellent customer service to all persons who call or visit WBHSAC.
- Ability to communicate well with teammates and supervisors.
- Help assist with volunteers at WBHSAC.
- Attend community events representing WBHSAC.
- Reviews and is familiar with agency safety policies and procedures. Adheres to all safety rules, regulations, and safety codes, and attend safety training sessions and safety meetings as requested.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

- High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum 1 year animal care experience and/or cleaning and disinfecting experience.
- Ability to stand and bend for long periods of time.
- Can operate basic office equipment such as a copier, fax machine, phone system, etc.

REQUIREMENTS AND CONSIDERATIONS:

- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be willing to adhere to all job specific policies and procedures and safety requirements.
- Have access to reliable transportation.
- Have a current driver’s license or State ID, auto insurance, and a good driving record.
- Must be insurable under agency auto policy.
- Have never been accused, arrested, charged, or convicted of crimes against animals.
- Ability to have a flexible schedule, Monday through Friday, including availability on weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work in a positive, productive, and results oriented manner with other WBHSAC staff, agency volunteers, community partners, veterinarian clinics, and public.
- Must maintain and adhere to agency confidentiality per policy.
