About the Position
- Use your organizational and analytical skills along with your eye for detail to support the Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) with the implementation of its CDC Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG), a ground-breaking effort to recruit, retain, support, and train the public health workforce and to strengthen public health systems, processes, and policies.
- As the PHIG Projects Coordinator, you will plan, develop, coordinate, and implement various aspects of grant administration and project management related to the PHIG award itself as well as the 15+ projects it funds across the Department.

- Bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, management, social sciences, or a related field-
- A combination of education and experience may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualifications- We Also Value- Two or more years of experience supporting public health or other complex programs and/or grant-funded projects-
- Master's degree in public health, public administration, nonprofit management, organizational Development, or a related field- Job Contributions- Work collaboratively with the PHIG Manager and grant-funded initiative leaders across the department on the preparation and submission of annual initiative budgets and work plans-
- Coordinate with program evaluators and initiative leaders to monitor and report on the progress of projects, track achievement of project objectives and deliverables, and identify opportunities for performance improvement and other project enhancementsReview and approve project expenditures by assessing their agreement with budgets and work plans, compliance with funding restrictions, and consistency with programmatic intent-
- Research and interpret grants administration rules and regulations and make recommendations to PHIG leadership; Develop policies, procedures, and standards of work for PHIG award administration-
- Participate in annual national and regional PHIG conferences and relevant training events; participate in community outreach and foster partnerships to support program participation-
- Take primary responsibility for the integration of the PHIG award into a new Department-wide grants management system soon to be implemented-
- Work with program staff to monitor the performance of sub-grantees and their compliance with CDC, County, and contractual requirements- Working Conditions- This position primarily works in an office setting with a limited telework option after a probationary periodMust be able to work under stressful conditions related to death and disease-
- Must be able to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency-
- Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test-
