Junior Herdsman

Behrenwald Farms is a full-cycle, family-owned cattle and crop farm operating in Clarksville, MI. We are seeking a part-time Junior Herdsman to assist primarily on weekends and/or seasonally in the feeding and care of our cow/calf herd, the feeding and care of our fat cattle, as well as working in the fields and grainery as needed. If you have a passion for agriculture and the motivation and desire to help us maintain a top-notch angus/sim-angus herd and produce prime-grade fat cattle and high-quality production crops, we would love to talk with you.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

Feeding and care of the cow and calf herd as well as the fat cattle. We are a full-cycle “Breed to Feed Out” operation. Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Breeding, birthing, feeding, weaning, treating, hauling and handling cattle
- Preparing, scraping, and repairing pens
- Building and repairing fences throughout the various pastures

**Assisting in other farM/Field hand duties on an as-needed basis including**:

- Assisting with hay and other crops such as corn, soy, beans, etc. This may include planting, picking stones, harvesting, mowing and operating balers.
- Dumping/handling of grain and the grainery operation
- Operating and maintaining farm equipment

**REQUIREMENTS**
- 18 years of age or older with valid driver’s license
- Farm Endorsement (F) or CDL preferred but not required
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
- Some experience with cattle
- Honest and reliable with the ability to work autonomously and in a team
- Ability to think outside-the-box and problem solve
- Ambitious with a desire to continually improve
- Flexible and adaptable
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs
- Ability to work on feet and operate equipment for occasional long shifts
- A love of cattle and farming

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
