**Summer overnight shifts full or part-time**

**Join a team of staff enriching the life of a friendly, energetic young man with developmental disabilities in the Fremont/Union City area**

Seeking a compassionate, disciplined person who can start with some daytime shifts in May to get to know the young man, and then do 3-5 overnight shifts/week in June and July. Part-time available now, followed by full time or part time in June and July. Possible extension after July.

Pay range: $20 - $25/hour (see details below)

Overnight shift requires awareness of person served, light sleep in order to assist in night or early morning with getting ready, breakfast, cleaning, and early morning activities, including neighborhood walk. Overnight shift hours are 9PM - 8AM.

Daytime shift requires working with another team member to provide support, companionship, and instruction to the supported adult. Provide housekeeping, cooking, laundry and other personal services and/or training, as needed. Provide support for activities of interest to the person served, such as hiking, walking, reading together, playing games, and listening to or making music. Work with staff team to introduce new skills and community activities. Daytime shift hours are 8AM - 1PM and 1PM - 9PM.

Interest in working with adults with autism or other developmental disabilities

Cheerful, energetic, kind personality

Ability to think ahead and take initiative within range outlined by managers

Experience with household duties such as cooking, cleaning and laundry

Be able to provide personal care

Able and willing to communicate with managers and fellow staff in English verbally and in writing throughout shifts

Able to work cooperatively with another team member

Able to use own cell phone for work updates while limiting personal usage

**Additional required for daytime shifts**:
Be able to stand, sit, and be mobile for most of shift if needed

Be able to walk up to 5 miles when needed

**Additional required for overnight shifts**:
Light sleeper, able to waken if person served gets up

**Additional general requirements**:
Pass state and federal background checks

Provide three responsive work references

High school diploma or GED equivalent

At least 18 years of age

**Preferred**:
Experience working with adults with autism or other developmental disabilities, especially adults with potentially intense negative behavioral challenges

College degree or college studies, especially in psychology, speech or occupational therapy

Experience living independently and/or running a household

Knowledge and practice of healthy cooking

Knowledge and utilization of behavioral supports such as redirection and de-escalation

Training in crisis intervention and prevention (CPI, Ukeru, ProAct, START or other)

**Hourly rates and benefits**:
**Overnight shifts $20-23/hour**

**Daytime shifts $21-25/hour**

**Additional benefits**:
**Sign on Bonus**: $100/month at the end of each of the first 5 months worked at half-time or more; maximum total for 5 months = $500

**Medical insurance **after 60-90 days if regularly working 30 or more hours/week (share of cost)

**Paid training **with staff team in areas such as autism, psychology, developmental and behavioral management as they relate to client.

**Location**: Fremont/Union City area, safe neighborhood, walking distance from BART
