Facilities Technician

**Summary**: The Facilities Technician will monitor the campus for building maintenance items, safety issues, prohibited or concerning behavior of persons throughout the campus, respond to emergency situations to minimize risk and / or loss to buildings, property, or persons. This role works in collaboration with central staff and in alignment with The Woodlands Methodist Church’s mission to reach people for Jesus Christ, disciple them in faith, and help those in need.

**Essential Functions**:

- Provide a safe environment for staff and visitors to The Woodlands Methodist Church
- Monitors, maintains, and performs standard repairs to building electrical facilities and systems; assists licensed electricians with non-technical repairs as appropriate.
- Monitors performance of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems for the facility; performs standard repair/replacement of components, as appropriate, and non-technical maintenance tasks such as cleaning of heating and cooling fan coil units and adjustment of system controls.
- Monitors and performs non-technical maintenance of plumbing systems, to include standard repair of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed waste lines, installing water coolers, and/or performing non-technical modifications to plumbing and water supply systems; assists licensed plumbers, as appropriate.
- May perform general maintenance, custodial, and trash removal tasks.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Documents facilities maintenance requirement, maintains appropriate records of work performed.
- Daily unlocking and locking of facility (verify campus is secure before leaving at night).
- Respond to onsite emergencies and assist including first aid and calling for backup as needed (e.g., 911).
- Gather information and witness statements, complete incident reports following campus incidents.
- Inspect TWMC-owned vehicles for safety and cleanliness and clean as needed.
- Check out vehicles to approved drivers and perform pre
- and post-use inspections.
- Watch video surveillance system and identify issues needing a response.
- Monitor the campus life safety systems and aid in their operation, testing and function.
- Maintain a constant awareness of people and events happening on campus.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.

- Must be able to read, write and otherwise communicate effectively in English.
- Must be able to work inside and outside our School and pass necessary background checks.
- Must be able to stand and walk during an 8-10-hour shift; occasional shifts of more than 10 hours may be required due to the demands of the business.
- Must have a neat professional appearance, be very punctual and reliable.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Bilingual preferred.

**Physical Demands**
- Must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to hear well in a loud environment.
- Must have sufficient mobility to move and operate in confined work area.
- Must be physically able to perform all duties of the position in any type of weather and be willing to work varied shifts, schedules, holidays and overtime as assigned.

**Other Specifications**:

- Reports to: Facilities Maintenance Manager
- Position Type: Full-time, non-exempt, 40 hours per week
- Schedule: As is typical for ministry this position requires a flexible schedule.
- Compensation: Dependent on experience
- Benefits: Full benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, 403b

Pay: From $16.50 per hour
