Substitute Daycare Assistant

*Great for retired teachers/daycare employees, substitute teachers or those more interested in working with kiddos and/or students studying Early Childhood education or other pertaining degrees.*

This is an "as needed position." The substitute would come in place of myself or my assistant if one of us needs to be absent for any reason. Any daycare employees must take all trainings needed from the state (sleep safe, CPR/First aid, universal precautions, health and safety, etc.). Preferred: CPR certified

**Duties**:

- Assist in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children in the daycare
- Supervise and engage with children during playtime and activities
- Assist with mealtime routines, including feeding and cleaning up
- Change diapers and assist with potty training as needed
- Support & collaborate with the owner or assistant in implementing educational activities and lesson plans.
- Monitor children's behavior and intervene when necessary to ensure a positive and inclusive environment
- Willing to complete professional developments before & during employment

**Skills**:

- First Aid/CPR certification to ensure the safety and well-being of the children (if you do not have this, you can complete during 1st month for employment)
- Experience in infant care, including feeding, diapering, meeting milestones and soothing techniques
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and practices
- Ability to educate and engage children through age-appropriate activities
- Familiarity with special education strategies for children with diverse needs
- Experience working with preschool-aged children, including implementing age-appropriate curriculum
- Understanding of toddler care, including managing behavior and promoting social-emotional development
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues/owner
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors using positive reinforcement techniques
- Experience working with students or young children in an educational setting
